Is randomness ever useful in computing, beyond statistical applications? Posted: 18 Feb 2022 06:07 AM PST Randomness is useful for a variety of statistical and data science techniques, but is it used anywhere outside of that, in compsci more generally? I would think not because we always want the behavior of our hardware and software to be well defined and predictable. [link] [comments] |
Writing Test Cases for a Computer Inventory App, any Suggestions? Posted: 18 Feb 2022 10:18 AM PST I am not completely sure if this counts as computer science, but I will explain it to the best of my ability. My job is having me create a computer inventory application getting data from a SharePoint list using PowerApps. An app that keeps track of computer hardware equipment, having one primary list that goes into detail about what device it is, what OS it runs on, what location it is at, etc., and two metadata lists for the equipment type (what device it is), and the OS. They want it to be able to enter new data, search for data, be able to edit/update data, and have the data appear on the SharePoint list as well (Which PowerApps already sets up for you anyway). After creating it, they want me to write test cases for it. I am not sure where to start since I have never written any test cases before, any suggestions would help. [link] [comments] |
