Button not working roughly 2 out of 50 times Posted: 27 Feb 2021 11:28 AM PST Hi everyone, I am developing a psychological test with javascript as a non-programmer myself. Everything seems to be working fine, however, one of my buttons decides not to work every now and then, roughly 2 out of 50 times it seems. That button is supposed to proceed the experiment when the user inputs a value into an adjoining input box. I have tried to make everything functional onload, change its place, put it in another div and use an additional function to enable it when a value has been input. Also spent a lot of time on stackoverflow and google in general, but I guess the problem is quite specific. So I'm looking for comments. What could be some reasons for a button to skip working from time to time although it works just fine most of the time? Thanks a lot! [link] [comments] |
Need help with grouping in Linq with a sub list Posted: 27 Feb 2021 08:41 PM PST I have been working on an issue for several hours now, something that I feel should be rather easy, but has turned into an absolute nightmare. I have a JSON string, which I have serialized into an object. That object is simple a class with a List<string> Fruits. My JSON looks like this: { "fruits": [ "apple" ] }, { "fruits": ["banana", "apple", "pear"]}, { "fruits":["apple"]} So my JSON object was deserialized into an object called "AssortedFruits", and the only property is List<string> Fruits. When I look at the object, it has 3 rows, which is the 3 above. I am trying to group by the entire List<String>, meaning I want row 2(banana, apple, pear) to be one unique row set, and apple to be the other. The issue is, when I try to group by, I am getting 3 rows still, and it's showing apple as 2 individual rows. I have tried: For example: var groupedFruits = fruitsList.GroupBy(i => i.Fruits) I have tried using distinct, I have tried every possible combination, every single google search I can possibly think of. I cannot seem to get all values within the object grouped properly, or the duplicates removed. I'm about to pull my hair out because it seems like such an easy solution and I feel I'm missing something. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I will be happy to answer any questions that may be necessary. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 27 Feb 2021 03:18 PM PST Hey everyone, I'm 16 years old, I've been learning to code for like a year, I tried web development but I didn't really enjoy it especially the front-end part, the back-end was okay, I learned HTML, CSS and Flask, I've tried learning Javascript as well, I just don't enjoy writing websites, should I dive deeper ? or should I try something else ? Posted: 27 Feb 2021 05:39 PM PST I'm trying to use my Raspberry Pi 4 running libreELEC as an music/video player, but I am unable to install the drivers required to operate my 800x400 4-inch screen. I have the script that worked on the normal OS, as well as the file with the driver in it (on a USB), but when I try to navigate to the folder with the driver in it, it says "File or Directory Not Found". When I use the "lcd" command, it shows that I am in the folder "/storage", but this folder doesn't show up on the libreELEC file manager. I've tried to switch to other folders, like "/playlist", but no matter what folder I try to switch to, I get the same error message. [link] [comments] |
Help deciphering this code I found on my computer? Posted: 27 Feb 2021 11:19 AM PST I am not at all experienced with coding and I have no idea if this code is even a code, but basically my laptop has been broken for a while so I finally decided to go through and pick out any important documents before wiping it clean and I found a 3 page document titled "f.txt" with this as the body of the document. Is this anything important and/or the cause of my computer issues? if (!window.mraid) {document.write('\x3cdiv id="ad_unit"\x3e');}if (!window.mraid) {document.write('\x3c/div\x3e');}(function() {if Hardware/software requirements for future jr software engineer Posted: 27 Feb 2021 11:54 AM PST Hi guys, I recently started learning web dev, but have been offered an educational track to become a junior software engineer. I need to pick a laptop (on a limited budget) and I'm specifically eyeing the Acer Aspire 5 A515-44-R6CL, but before I order anything I want to check with some more experienced people if this would be a good fit for my needs. First of all, I plan to run Linux on it and I'm leaning towards Fedora, unless people have specific good reasons why a different distro would be better. Now during the 6 to 8 months of coursework I will be learning to work with: Html Css Javascript NodeJS Mysql Rest Ajax Bootstrap Jquery Php Git And possibly also docker and/or kubernetes. I'm currently using vscode and vim, not sure if I need any other specific software for all of the above. I'm not sure how much of a load these things put on a system, which is why I'm turning to you guys. The laptop mentioned above has 16gb ddr4 ram and it runs on an AMD Ryzen 5 4500U. Is this enough, too much, too little? Will this be able to get me working as a jr software engineer for a couple of years at least? Are there any other requirements I should know about? Starting with a functional language like Haskell instead of an imperative language Posted: 27 Feb 2021 06:48 AM PST Did any programmers here begin programing with a purely functional language like Haskell (or maybe Lisp)? It seems like everyone I know started with Python or one of the C-family languages, with are imperative languages, which colors how you think about coding. Later on folks learn something like Haskell and say "it changed the way I think about coding!" What about going in reverse? Has anyone done that? [link] [comments] |
Need advice on learning to build apps that later linked to Arduino Posted: 27 Feb 2021 02:25 AM PST Hi guys! The context is I and my team will be using Arduino for a project. We needed an interface where the user can interact with the build, for example let's say something easy like on and off an led using the app. I'm the only "software programmer" in my team, and I'm pretty comfortable in java, but never accually build apps out of it. We are on a pretty rush timing, so i need to learn building apps fast. I found out that flutter is pretty fast to learn if I have OOP concepts, will it be too tedious to link with Arduino? If no what is the fastest way that I can learn flutter (any videos, course advice?) Are there any other frameworks, tools etc that is better (and faster to learn)in my case? Q: 1. Is flutter easily compatible with Arduino. 2. Resource on learning flutter(or other app building tools) fast . Any advice is appreciated, thx guys :) . [link] [comments] |
Algorithms by Princeton University (Coursera). Posted: 27 Feb 2021 04:28 AM PST Hey everyone, I've just started taking the algorithms course, and I was wondering, for those who have taken it, is there so sort of group on Facebook or discord server designated to this course ? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2021 11:20 AM PST Let's say its a kid at home in 2008 that wants to create a game he has made up in his mind that could potentially sale lots of copies. Where does he start what does he need , tools, resources? [link] [comments] |
What programming languages would you recommend me for start messing with? Posted: 27 Feb 2021 11:15 AM PST I am generally a very creative guy, i like to make up a lot of things just for fun. Kind of got the idea that i can use programming to start messing around, hacking (lol) and generally writing codes. Maybe along the way it becomes my carrier and my actual job, but who knows. Can machine learning be applied to dithering? Posted: 27 Feb 2021 07:26 AM PST I want to turn a photograph into a Lego art piece. Dithering typically involves assigning pixels in a corner of an image, then modifying nearby pixels by the error in the colour of that pixel to propagate the noise over nearby pixels to prevent banding. Different dithering algorithms have different weights specified (arbitrarily/to taste). To keep edges sharp and block colours smooth and patternless, you might benefit from varying the distance you are prepared to propagate noise. You may also decide to modify the colours of your image slightly to minimise the extent of visible dithering. Lego comes in maybe 30 colours that don't conveniently separate out into an RGB palette, and the total pixel count is much lower: a 40cm wide picture will only be 50 Lego pieces wide. Successful low-pixel count dithering with non-uniform colour palettes is an art not a science. Have machine learning techniques been applied to this problem? An example in the wild, I've noticed that over the past year, 'dark colour banding' has improved significantly on Netflix when my internet is being slow. [link] [comments] |
How to read peripheral input in Linux without being root user Posted: 27 Feb 2021 03:01 AM PST I would like to read peripheral input like keyboard, mouse or serial transfer from an arduino in linux without using external libraries (mainly because I want to understand how it works at the low level). Considering the "everything is a file" philosophy of linux I assumed that the mouse and the keyboard would also be files, and after some research I found that they are located in the /dev/input/ folder, but root privilege are needed in order to read them. The thing is, when using a library that allows you to handle events from keyboard or mause like SFML or ncurses you don't need to run the resulting program as root, so how they do it? Is there another way to read peripheral output without root privileges? [link] [comments] |
Angular Material Tables (Angular8) Posted: 27 Feb 2021 05:46 AM PST I need to make a products page like amazon website. And i need to add search, sort, filter and pagination functionality. I am thinking of using angular material tables because they provide sorting, and pagination. What i am thinking is to take angular table with a SINGLE row and add angular card(with product name, image, price) in each row. If i do it this way, will I able to use angular table's sorting, filtering, pagination functionalities? [link] [comments] |
Basic problems (pip, import...) Posted: 27 Feb 2021 03:20 AM PST Hello, I am a beginner user of Python. I am trying to scrap some data from Tumblr. But, I would like to solve/ask my basic problems.I was using 3.8 as a beginner. I used pip in command screen. Then, I switched to Python 3.9 today. I have PyCharm as well. First problem was pip is not recognized as an internal or external command. I used set PATH but did not work. Anyway, I used "-m pip install pytumblr" and it worked, it was installed in 3.9 version. But, got a warning saying that it is not a PATH (Why it was installed to the correct place even if it is not a PATH, I don't know). The second warning was about upgrading pip. I used "-m pip install --upgrade" then it said -m is not recognized but I used it when I was installing pytumblr. How come? Anyway, then I typed the whole path manually and used -m pip install --upgrade again and it worked. I updated pip also into the correct location. Now, when I want to check pip and python --version for being sure. It says pip is not recognized and python is not recognized again. It sometimes works sometimes not I guess. In the PyCharm, I cannot import pytumblr. It says "No module named pytumblr" If you have any suggestion? Please be very basic because I am very new. I found some older posts but they were saying check root or something like that but did not tell how to do this. What I want to do is to use pytumblr via PyCharm. [link] [comments] |
