Posted: 28 Jul 2020 08:17 PM PDT This might be a dumb question. I am taking a numerical analysis class this coming semester and I have been told that it is similar to algorithms. Is this the common opinion? [link] [comments] |

[R] New White-Box Framework Will Cartoonize Your World Posted: 28 Jul 2020 02:08 PM PDT AI-powered cartoonization has many practical applications these days — from personalized anime-style avatars to video and even fine art. Many black-box cartoonization frameworks however provide users with limited control or adjustability when rendering real-world photography into cartoon scenes. Now, researchers from ByteDance, The University of Tokyo and Style2Paints Research have introduced a framework that can generate high-quality cartoonized images with much-improved controllability in order to meet artists' requirements across a wider range of styles and use cases. Here is a quick read: New White-Box Framework Will Cartoonize Your World The paper Learning to Cartoonize Using White-box Cartoon Representations is on GitHub. Click here to visit the project page. CS Double Major or CS Minor for a Finance guy? Posted: 29 Jul 2020 12:27 AM PDT Hello everyone, Hope you guys are well. I'm looking for an unbias opinion hopefully you guys can help. My situation I'm also a mature student, 21 (was a pre-med for the first 2yrs of my uni life and switched). I don't want to switch majors because I worked way too hard to get into this program. Undergrad major options I have: A) Double Major in CS + BBA (specialization in Management Info. Systems + Finance) note: Management info systems (MIS) is where we use python heavily to build databases and analytical tools for business purposes. B) BBA major + CS minor + Stats minor (5 courses per minor) Pros: I'll finish my degree by age 26 Why do I want to pursue CS: I want to be able to manipulate data intimately so that I can invest my money better and someday build a fintech firm. I plan on going to 12 Hackathons, and routinely code while in school - so that I can better my programming skills. After graduation: Consultant @ Mckinsey - 2yrs Deployment strategist or Data engineer @ Palantir Tech. - 3yrs Private Equity guy - 5 yrs. Thank you, everyone! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jul 2020 05:52 PM PDT Could anyone give some tips for tuning a FCM? I'm struggling to get my model to output predictions close to reality. The map only contains three nodes which are connected in a line and node1 has a feedback loop to itself: ex node1 —-> node2 —-> node3 One thought I had is this is too simple to have any sound predictions.
