Software Engineer Or Web Developer?! Posted: 28 Aug 2021 10:46 AM PDT What's the difference? Tried asking in r/cscareerquestions what skills seperate a web developer and a software engineer. I mentioned that I'm a frontend developer working with JS/React and I've basically been made out to be troll for not realising that I'm already a software engineer. Can anyone shed any light or am I indeed a moron? [link] [comments]

Only allowing users to login with Social OAuth? Posted: 28 Aug 2021 06:57 AM PDT I'm currently working on a full-stack (MERN) project that will require user accounts. After researching this for some time, I am considering not allowing users to create an account with an email + password combination and only allowing them to instead login with Google or Facebook through OAuth2. The reason I have for this is it seems like adding the option to manually create user accounts opens a "can of (security) worms". I would have to manually handle possible password brute-forcing, risk leaking encrypted passwords in the event of a serious intrusion, and more. The problem is: maybe the user doesn't have a Facebook or Google account and don't want to create one? This could be if they are a kid (which is possible with my current project), or are privacy cautious. I am not sure how to handle this sort of user as I don't want to simply refuse them access. I am wondering the communities thoughts on this sort of login system and if they have any suggestions for the users that don't have the respective login accounts. [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Aug 2021 12:30 PM PDT I saw this site under gsap portfolio, but I have no idea how it's built, basically when you scroll down you see the web animation or 3d object, can someone guide me how basically it's built? I'm wondering what tool is the site using? [link] [comments]
