Java: putting parameters into array within a class function Posted: 14 Sep 2020 08:24 PM PDT EDIT: Title should read as follows:
I'm recently learning Java from C++. I've learned that Java doesn't have pointers, so I was wondering, how should this be implemented? I want to create an array of the parameters of an object and loop through that array in order to initialize those objects, but when I run this, the values don't get initialized. How to remember coding lessons effectively after 48 hours? Posted: 14 Sep 2020 01:10 PM PDT Hey guys, long story short, due to the pandemic, I did a career change from being an Aircraft Pilot to studying coding to pursue a job as a developer/software engineer. I was familiar with python 5 years ago through a mandatory course (before I dropped out of Uni), and this is what I recently just started to learn. I will go back to college at some point, but I bought a course of Udemy (zero to hero Python) and been following through. I find it very enjoyable to learn coding, but also very frustrating when you can't recall what you learned 3 days ago, regardless of the fact that during the lesson, I understand everything explained and am usually ahead of the teacher. But today I was doing an assessment for the first section that I've been studying for the past 3 days, and can't recall 50% of the stuff. I know what it is but I can't pull it out of my brain. So is there a trick or a way I can remember the syntax and everything I learned so I can effectively move in to the next chapters? Thank you in advance :) [link] [comments]

How do I make the condition below evaluate to true in JavaScript Posted: 14 Sep 2020 09:34 PM PDT Someone sent me this code exercise. Initially, I thought this is impossible to do because it does not make sense. [link] [comments]
How to get the length of the definitions of enum constants Posted: 14 Sep 2020 08:46 PM PDT Here is my enum: And I know to get the length of all the constants inside of the enum is But I would like to get the length of all the "noun" "verb" "adjective" defined for each constant. Any help in the right direction is appreciated. This is in Java btw. [link] [comments]
Is there scientific evidences for the split-keyboard health benefit? Posted: 14 Sep 2020 04:51 PM PDT I'm trying to take my health more seriously. I found great ergonomics keyboards online, but not a lot of study supporting their health benefit. [link] [comments]

Posted: 14 Sep 2020 01:25 PM PDT A certain site is storing the password: "Test!234" as "$2a$10$z3CC2K92YWLtN.JNojKcRuCaNm3bzfydZQIqluvlQ8rPcVCz.faGG" This looks to be a bcrypt hash however I am unable to successfully verify the password. Additionally the site is storing the algorithm as "cbAlg2", I cannot find any information on this algorithm. Am I missing something obvious, or is something bizarre afoot? [link] [comments]
Is JavaScript Map Data Structure Safe to Store Important Functions in? Posted: 14 Sep 2020 03:32 PM PDT I'm making a discord radio bot and I'm storing my broadcasters in a hashmap for each playlist so that the streams will have access to them on a finish emit. After reading about the Hashmap data structure can be volatile because data is stored in random indexes, my question is:. Is it safe to store them in a Map? Or will there be a chance of them glitching from time to time? I could store them in an array, but I have used maps heavily in the building of the database and it just makes sense to use a map again. The broadcasters are only being created one time and reused each time a finish is emitted. If my understanding is correct, once the object is instantiated, there should be no worry that it will be indexed again. [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Sep 2020 06:22 PM PDT For my senior year of highschool I have to present a capstone project (find a solution to a real-world problem) but I have no concrete ideas. Well I kind of do have an idea of what I want to do, I've narrowed down to two projects I'll probably do, MCI-detection from speech/writing style and "Predicting" cancer based off genetics /genetic mutations. Any other ideas? I don't mind switching to a different programming language but I'm currently planning to do this project in python (I know c,c++,java,js,html, css) [link] [comments]
I’m burned out in my current field, where can I go from here? Posted: 14 Sep 2020 12:59 PM PDT I have an associates degree in Electrical Technology and a Bachelors in Building Automation Technology, and I've been doing HVAC automation controls for healthcare and biotech facilities in Silicon Valley for about 3 years now. I enjoy writing custom code for equipment and putting together a nice web GUI, but I'm getting burnt out on the physical parts of the job. Honestly I don't really care about construction or HVAC anymore and I'm having trouble focusing on my job. I'm tired of wearing PPE, I'm tired of starting work so early on a construction schedule, and I'm tired of working totally by myself all the time although I don't mind it when I'm working from home. I'm tired of taking an elevator 6 floors to use a portopotty outside. I'm tired of finding bottles of piss in ceiling or a rooftop. I'm tired of being around construction culture. And I can't focus on my job in situations like programming and testing equipment while people are drilling into concrete in the same room, many other scenarios like this. I imagine a position where you only work on code and graphics but from my searching it seems it doesn't really exist. I'm thinking maybe a switch to a totally software related field? I am in Silicon Valley after all, but DDC and building automation programming is so specific and proprietary to the industry I'm not sure how my skills would translate or how to get started. I look around at my possible career path as a tech and even at the highest level these guys are still in the field half of the time. And that's part of my frustration too, its always guys! I can go for like a month at a time in this field without speaking to a single female, barely get to speak to anyone as it is, and as a young single dude I don't think it's healthy for me. I think I'd like the office life (or I guess WFH during covid). I'm just at this point where I need to make a change, I don't think I want this to be my future. Does anyone know what some career progression paths are for a controls tech that might fit for me? Or really any advice for someone who's just feels so burnt out with the job environment. Posted: 14 Sep 2020 04:40 PM PDT I've been programming for like a year and I for some reason cant do anything. I was programming in c# for unity then I switched to python a few months ago, but I still was programming in unity every so often. I've spent a lot of time trying to learn I just cant seen to get past the very beginner stages like making a basic calculator, I cant even make a rock paper scissor game. I'm just struggling and i really enjoy programming I just need someone or something to set me on the right track. Any help is very much appropriated, i'm 15 and I'd like to get a job with python when I graduate from high school. [link] [comments]
I'm planning to build a library of stock footage similar to FilmSupply. Is this the best stack? Posted: 14 Sep 2020 12:51 PM PDT For one of my first big projects, I want to build an easily searchable library of stock video footage that one could sell/license a la carte to users. In terms of system design, I'm currently thinking of building it out using AWS to store the media, and GraphQL to build out the API to retrieve video files, but curious if I should take anything into consideration regarding the front end, as I'm most comfortable with the React/Javascript arena but not sure if I will run into issues with delivering video content and making it available to download. Is there anything I can consider now to save myself a headache in the future? [link] [comments]
Need help related to WhatsApp automation via selenium Posted: 14 Sep 2020 04:21 PM PDT Hello there. I have a client who requires an app that can send and receive messages via Whatsapp but not impelment any paid solution like APIs (almost) all of which are charging per message. There would be several agents that would be handling the customer queries on client's end which means that the app would need to do two way communication with all (most) of the features of WhatsApp. Which means that the app would be acting as an instant messaging middle man. Now the solution that I have proposed after several days of research is that I can implement it using Selenium automation. I will handle the Whatsapp part of the application using Whatsapp web and a selenium bot. The other part is not that difficult to implement. I am looking forward for some expert advice on - Whether this thing is even possible or not? - How reliable this would be if I am willing to provide support whenever WhatsApp updates its web version which breaks the selenium app? - The selenium app would take time to find chat, send message and sync chat. How scalable would this be? Any help or advice in this regard would be greatly appreciated or if anyone can point me in the right direction I would be really grateful. Thanks [link] [comments]
HELP - Webroot+Authorize.net API for subscription/Data scraping + Client Reconciliation Posted: 14 Sep 2020 12:02 PM PDT Hi guys, i'm not really a programmer, but before I look into cobbling something together, I was just wondering if what i'm envisioning is possible. I have about 150 clients on webroot, and im looking for a way to reconcile my Webroot activations with my Authorize billing. In authorize, I want to check if a subscription payment for Client A has been settled successfully, the amount paid, and match it up in another column with the amount of endpoints active in Webroot for that particular client. I'm fine with scraping the data in a sql or mongodb and then putting it up on some sort of local webpage. Don't know how tough something like this would be, or if someone has a walkthrough on something like that? appreciate any feedback and time =) [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Sep 2020 03:37 PM PDT Hey guys i didn't really know where to ask, but I was wondering how one would go about finding a source file on, for example, an old and dead video link that i've found through archives Is there a way? or are dead video files unrecoverable? [link] [comments]
Raspberry controlled by a webserver Posted: 14 Sep 2020 07:49 AM PDT So I've seen some people controlling relayboards by using a webserver on a raspberry. 1) How do you do that and to go even further, 2) can you even do the same thing but by hosting a website on the raspberry to interact with the webserver. If 2) isn't possible with a raspberry, is there a other device this could be done with? [link] [comments]

Final year project ideas using MERN stack Posted: 14 Sep 2020 04:34 AM PDT I have team of 6 and we are currently brainstorming ideas. We can also implement simple machine Learning though that's not my field. We have close to 10 months to get it ready. So far we have thought of a medical assistant app that helps keep track of patients movements, blood pressure past medical records mental condition but our teachers called it too easy. Now we made a few changes here and there because maybe they didn't understand our project. Our other ideas include a sentiment analysis based music recommendations app but I have no idea how to go about it as we were thinking of using a web scrapper that goes through different music blogs and reads reviews to classify what type of song/album it is and provide it to the user. Any other ideas would be appreciated [link] [comments]
C#: I can't figure out how to get my method to return what I want Posted: 14 Sep 2020 11:44 AM PDT In the attached code, it says the word "answer" is an unassigned local variable. The requirement for this code is that it all be in methods, but I can't seem to figure out how to get my code to return "answer". using System; using System.IO.Pipes; using static System.Console; namespace AdmissionModularized { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { double GPA; int testScore; string answer; Write("Enter a grade point average: "); GPA = double.Parse(ReadLine()); Write("Enter a test score: "); testScore = int.Parse(ReadLine()); //answer = AcceptOrReject(Convert.ToInt32(ReadLine())); answer = AcceptOrReject(GPA, testScore); WriteLine("{0}", answer); }// end main static string AcceptOrReject(double GPA, int testScore) { const double AVG = 3.0; const int HIGH_TEST_SCORE = 80, LOW_TEST_SCORE = 60; string answer; if (GPA >= AVG) if (testScore >= LOW_TEST_SCORE) WriteLine("\nAccepted"); else WriteLine("\nRejected"); else if (testScore >= HIGH_TEST_SCORE) WriteLine("\nAccepted"); else WriteLine("\nRejected"); return answer; (!!THIS IS WHERE THE ISSUE IS!!) }// end AcceptOrReject } } [link] [comments]
Question: Monetizing an application Posted: 14 Sep 2020 07:46 AM PDT Hey programmers, I have a question, I have developed an application that I believe some people could benefit from and I want to make it public to anyone that wants to use it but at the same time I would like to be atleast a little bit compensated for the idea and the initial work to develop the application, so I was wondering for anyone that has deployed an application and make it public if donation base (meaning if you want to download the application there is an option to donate or have a donate option available on the app or donate some code to me the application better) works or should I charge people a monthly/one time bill to use the app. I have no idea how a business works but I have had experience developing an application from idea to finding requirements, designing a database, developing the right features to finally "finishing" the application. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
