Feedback Friday #411 - Field Test Posted: 24 Sep 2020 08:02 PM PDT FEEDBACK FRIDAY #411 Well it's Friday here so lets play each others games, be nice and constructive and have fun! keep up with devs on twitter and get involved! Post your games/demos/builds and give each other feedback! Feedback Friday Rules: Suggestion: As a generally courtesy, you should try to check out a person's game if they have left feedback on your game. If you are leaving feedback on another person's game, it may be helpful to leave a link to your post (if you have posted your game for feedback) at the end of your comment so they can easily find your game. -Post a link to a playable version of your game or demo -Do NOT link to screenshots or videos! The emphasis of FF is on testing and feedback, not on graphics! Screenshot Saturday is the better choice for your awesome screenshots and videos! -Promote good feedback! Try to avoid posting one line responses like "I liked it!" because that is NOT feedback! -Upvote those who provide good feedback! -Comments using URL shorteners may get auto-removed by reddit, so we recommend not using them. Posted: 25 Sep 2020 06:09 AM PDT Hi all, I am really curious about whether it's hard for gaming companies to create a character (narrative + concept)? It would be REALLY helpful if someone can answer from an hour-wise or money-wise perspective. Thank you so much in advance!:) [link] [comments]

Where to start when you don't even know what you want to make? Posted: 25 Sep 2020 10:50 AM PDT I poked through the sidebar and didn't see anything and maybe this is something to ask more broad creative subs but I wanna start here. I love the idea of making a game, even if no one ever plays it, but I don't even know what game I want to make. Can anyone offer help on finding direction? [link] [comments]
I am a nsfw artist, should I hide my nsfw artwork and games from my portfolio? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 05:37 PM PDT I'm a programmer and game designer. I also love illustration, I consider my drawing skills above average and I love drawing in my free time or for my solo projects. The thing is, I'm a gay dude and most of the stuff I draw is either really explicit or really homoerotic as not only does that helps me relax (no innuendo here) but I just love those kinds of themes. The thing is, not only is my work illustrating and animating almost completely nsfw, which means I don't feel that I can show it to prove I understand the workflow of an artist in a team, but the only game I've made that actually got an audience was a pretty explicit game that got about 3000 people playing it. I'm also making an rpg with similar themes right now on my free time from my work as a system's analyst and honestly, I'm torn apart over talking about those projects when applying for jobs on game companies. Should I talk about my nsfw projects on job interviews on the game industry or would that make people see me as an unprofessional pervert that shouldn't get a chance at any job in the industry? Font License Dilemma in the games Posted: 25 Sep 2020 10:32 AM PDT Basically i want to use a non free Font in my game. I have been searching through couple of websites like myfonts and fontspring and writing their support for the last couple of days and i still didn't get a clear answer. For information of people who dont know; There are two types of font licenses concerning game developers; Desktop License App License. App license is significantly more expensive. So i dont wanna have to buy it. But i still didnt understand it clearly if i should buy the Desktop and be fine with it or App license a must for game? If you wanna use that text as a logo, Desktop is totally fine. But i will use for dialogues and i can't be sure. Here is the email i got from support.
So if i use this OTF font file in Unity software to create the dialogue text in given font then i have to buy app license as far as i get it? But the player will not have this font file by any means so to use or edit in the game. Then why would i have to buy App license? It sounds totally stupid. Are there anyone who is experienced at this or who encountered same dilemma before? Please share your opinions, its confusing like hell. [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Sep 2020 09:50 AM PDT So I want to pursue a career in game design, and I am currently working on a school career project about what it is like to be a game designer. I have already spent a few hours browsing company websites and looking for a university or college that can help me answer some questions, but none of my efforts have been successful yet. If anyone on this sub is a game designer or knows someone I can easily contact to ask a few questions, please dm me. Thank you to anyone that is reading this and can help me. [link] [comments]
help an architecture student designing a gaming company! Posted: 25 Sep 2020 09:20 AM PDT hello there, gamers of reddit! I'm an architecture student working on a design submission which involves designing a corporate office for a gaming company that explores VR/AR. the data regarding it is not available much on the internet so I hope I'll get help here. The data I'm wishing to collect is regarding a hypothetical company with a population of 1000, which works specifically in creating video games over regular platforms and also the upcoming platforms like AR, VR and create interactive media. The aim of my design project is to create a state-of-the-art office building that will cater the said company, pushing them to strive for better products as well as help them have an inclusive environment which will provide the same satisfaction to a person a home provides : comfort and freedom. The approximate data I'd like to obtain will be as follows :
The data I require is pretty elaborate but your industry being a unique one that's gaining a lot of pace, especially in these trying times, proves to come with its own challenges. Hence for an architectural designer to create spaces to cater gaming industry needs this collection of data to move forward. Thank you in advance! [link] [comments]

Realistically, how fast can you implement network multiplayer in Unity? Posted: 25 Sep 2020 12:36 PM PDT I'm challenging myself to a 2 week "game jam", and I wanted to throw together something. With the rise of these "party" genre Unity games, I wanted to ask some more seasoned game devs on the difficulty of implementing Unity's network features. Basically, how quickly can I get 2+ people in a level over network play? Thanks guys! [link] [comments]

Where to start seeking Studio Art roles? Posted: 25 Sep 2020 12:08 PM PDT Gamedev artist here interested in working at a professional studio. No professional experience in games, but have published my own indie game on Steam, and have been improving my art and portfolio. Curious what communities to be a part of, and if there are places I should be looking for roles aside from Artstation. [link] [comments]

Hi should i go for a associates degree in Simulation and game dev or computer science? Posted: 25 Sep 2020 07:42 AM PDT Hi, There is a high school in my area that is connected to the local community college so if I enroll there I can graduate with a free associates degree in whatever field depending on what electives I take because instead of normal high school electives the electives are college classes that would change the degree you graduate with to something else depending on the electives you take, Ex if I take CS electives I will graduate with an AAS in CS. And was wondering if I should go for a associates in SGD or CS and than transfer for over to a four year university [link] [comments] |
