How feasible is getting an MS in CS with a BS in Chemistry Posted: 04 Aug 2020 08:25 PM PDT I am graduating this fall with a Bachelors in Chemistry. However, the job prospects do not look nearly as good in CS. I do love chemistry but don't know if it is worth the low-pay jobs with only a BS. Even an MS in chemistry doesn't seem to be great. I have little to no knowledge (some basic python) in CS, but don't know how hard the transition would be if I were to pursue an MS in CS without a BS in it. I've always wanted to learn to program as well, so it wouldn't be like I wouldn't have any motivation. [link] [comments] |

Awesome variable names that you can use! Posted: 05 Aug 2020 01:36 AM PDT Many programming languages have keywords that you cannot use. Most of them also support I've always struggled with thinking better alternatives so I made a repo that aims to resolve those difficulties by offering alternatives that you can use! It's still work in progress. 👷🔨 Feel free to suggest any ideas/enhancements you'd feel would benefit other developers! 🦄 [link] [comments] |

[D] As Its GPT-3 Model Wows the World, OpenAI CEO Suggests ‘the Hype Is Way Too Much’ Posted: 04 Aug 2020 01:41 PM PDT OpenAI's 175 billion parameter language model GPT-3 has gone viral once again, with a flurry of tech tweets celebrating the many innovative new applications — ranging from automatic code and short story generators to fully functioning search engines — that have leveraged the GPT-3 API OpenAI released in June. But not everyone in the ML community is impressed. Here is a quick read: As Its GPT-3 Model Wows the World, OpenAI CEO Suggests 'the Hype Is Way Too Much' [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Aug 2020 06:01 PM PDT hi! im planning to study computer science focusing on systems engineering however due to the pandemic, ive decided to take a year off. i was wondering if anyone of you knows a company that i could intern in? just to have an overview of the field im entering and if possible i could work for the company but instead of them paying me, they could sponsor my college fees instead. the pandemic really brought my family down and im trying to help them as much as i can. not worrying for my college fees could really help them lessen the weight they're carrying. thank you! What is the best way to get a better understanding of how computers work? Posted: 04 Aug 2020 01:46 PM PDT I want to learn about what everything does and how it works inside of a computer outside a classroom what's the best way to do this? Any videos or links anyone can recommend? [link] [comments] |
University result: deciding whether to switch course to electrical engineering Posted: 04 Aug 2020 10:57 AM PDT Hi guys! So basically i got my uni results today and i got 65% 1st year. I am going to enter my second year which had OS, algorithms, and web. I am unsure whether Compsci is a good choice for me.I kinda enjoy it. This was my first time trying CS, i studied pure science at high school. I really want to get a first class degree. I have always been A+ students at school and i dont want to disappoint my parents who are expecting a first class. [link] [comments] |
