I want to post this absolutely fantastic 7 hour and 53 mins YT playlist made back in 2017. It is wonderfully narrated, animated and curated by someone with endless enthusiasm for the subject. If anyone is just starting with CS and wants to go deeper into it, I think this is an amazing introduction.

NOTE: This is not a programming tutorial.

Are there any online computational epidemiology classes?

    Posted: 27 Mar 2020 06:55 PM PDT

I'm a CS grad student and my uni doesn't offer anything of the sort at the current moment. I was wondering if there were other universities offering classes that go into computational epidemiology, hopefully at the graduate student level. Being paid or free is not an issue.

What Are Some Must Read Books/Papers Relating to Computer Science?

    Posted: 27 Mar 2020 10:29 AM PDT

Hello, I'm a high school senior going to major in computer science next year. I was just wondering if there were any books or papers that I should read to further my understanding about computer science. I personally like the more theoretical side of computer science; however, I'm willing to read just about anything, so any of your suggestions would be appreciated.

Degree considered lesser because of its title?

    Posted: 27 Mar 2020 06:01 PM PDT

    Hey guys!

    I'm interested in pursuing a course-based Master's degree from Concordia University (http://www.concordia.ca/academics/graduate/computer-science-mcompsci-applied.html).

The problem is that the name of the degree that I'll be awarded at the end of the program is "Master's of Applied Computer Science (MApCompSc)" and I got some input about how the word "applied" cheapens the degree and makes it look lesser than a normal MSc in CS degree and would that it would be treated as such by employers.

I would love you guys' input on how true this is.

    Thanks!

[R] UN, WHO & Mila Map the AI vs COVID-19 Battlefield

A new project from researchers with the UN Global Pulse Data Science Team, the World Health Organization and the Mila — Quebec AI Institute looks at current studies and programs that are using AI to tackle the COVID-19 crisis and suggests some promising future research directions. The team categorizes the AI applications in three areas; medical, which includes individual patient diagnosis and treatment; molecular, comprising drug discovery-related research; and societal.
