How to get into entry-level without a network? Posted: 03 Sep 2018 09:56 PM PDT I am thinking of applying to entry-level webdev jobs in California (from Canada) and I am just wondering how to even get in the door without a network in the field..there aren't a lot of entry-level opportunities in my city and if I were to move out I'd rather go to Cali than, say, Vancouver. Are there any tips y'all can share? Thank you and any help is greatly appreciated. [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Sep 2018 11:46 AM PDT Hey hi all, Although I never used it or learn it, back in the days, I saw a couple of tutorials and courses on Adobe ColdFusion. But after a couple of years it seems as if it is dead. Hence I want to ask this question to y'all. Have you ever seen a website that uses ColdFusion? I mean like a live one? And what you guys think about ColdFusion and what happened to it? Cheers. [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Sep 2018 03:16 PM PDT Got an interview for a front-end position that does e-commerce sites mainly being shopify. Right now generally for front-end development I setup my dev enviroment to bundle all my JS/CSS code through webpack. I know shopify uses their own language called liquid which I've worked with in the past but only in the interface they provide to create sites. I'm just wondering what the key differences are in professional front-end development for shopify that differentiates from just working purely with JS. Maybe some of you work specifically in that field so would be great to have some insight to prepare me a bit better for the interview. [link] [comments]

How to interact with async code in debug console / repl? Posted: 04 Sep 2018 02:00 PM PDT Most of js code is now async. If you trigger a debugger, one of the most useful thing was you could type code and see what was happening. and change values. with async code you can't even call the function.. if i type i wise i could just do this [link] [comments]

[QUESTION]Where do I learn to make REST apis? Posted: 04 Sep 2018 01:13 PM PDT I'm currently studying front-end web development on my own. I already know HTML, CSS, JS(currently learning it through skillshare), PHP, a bit of python and a bit of jquery. How do I learn to make a REST api and where do I learn to do one? What text-area tool does reddit/discord/github use for stylising text submitted by users? Posted: 04 Sep 2018 09:21 AM PDT I'm referring to the ability to highlight code with ''' (or by entering 4 spaces), adding quotes and links using special syntax, adding tables and lists, etc... Like this (comment formatting): https://www.reddit.com/r/raerth/comments/cw70q/reddit_comment_formatting/ I am using ASP.Net C# so not sure if that is a barrier for me to use that on a web project I'm working on. I have seen a few libraries but they only support other languages like PHP. Any recommendations would be great :) Thanks. [link] [comments]
Is there something like Visual Composer just for HTML+CSS (besides LayoutIt & Pingendo) Posted: 04 Sep 2018 12:51 PM PDT I'm looking for a free web app or software (if possible, open source), that allows us to create web layouts in a manner similar to WordPress' page builder plugins, most notably Visual Composer (which I tried and loved). The difference is that Visual Composer is for editing WordPress templates, however I'm looking for something that would generate HTML and CSS , without having to use WordPress. I already tried Pingendo and LayoutIt a couple years ago but I wasn't impressed... do you guys know something like this? [link] [comments]
