Any passionless web devs out there? Posted: 25 Nov 2021 11:09 AM PST I need some advice, I've been learning web development for 6 months and I've been working as an intern webdev for one month (Front-End). I feel totally drained. I'm 1 month in this internship and I already have a real project to complete for a real client, which is pretty difficult for my level of skill. I've already made another post 10 days ago on this sub where I explained my situation, if you're interested in reading my story. I work on actual deadlines and I feel hopeless and scared and insanely stressed out. My levels of stress are so high that I've genuinely started to hallucinate things like conversations that never happened (and two people have already noted this when I talked to them), plus some really weird occurrences that I can't really explain, like my brain doesn't process reality anymore. This internship is really taking a toll on me. But I can't make up my mind about whether I feel like this because: 1. I don't like coding or 2. I don't like this internship I pretty much don't know what to do, every solitary minute of writing code is mental and physical agony. I didn't use to feel like this before I actually worked in the field, but now I feel like the pressure is just too much. I dread going to sleep and I dread waking up the next day, knowing that I have to do this again. My question is, can I survive in web development if I'm really passionless about it? Is anyone else in my situation? Does it at least become TOLERABLE, with time? I really want to do this for the sake of my own career, I've previously worked in retail and then I started a webdev course and got a qualification. That's pretty much my only qualification, if I give up on this, I have no place to go other than return to retail. I want to keep doing this because it's the only way for me to actually afford living. Does it get better with time? [link] [comments]
Any developer tools/subscriptions/packages that are worth buying paid/pro plan? Posted: 25 Nov 2021 05:44 AM PST So since tommorow is black friday, Im looking to get some of the developers tools that I using with a discount. So far I've been eyeing GitKraken and also maybe some premium comopnent library for React and Vue (might go for TailwindUI). I wonder if there any tools that are really worth paying for that you would recommend for a webdev (using python/js for backend and vue/react for frontend). What are your recommandations? Posted: 25 Nov 2021 08:12 PM PST Hi, I'm in my first semester of school for Web Development so I'm learning a lot, just at a slow pace imo. I am partially ambitious with my goals, yet I want to get the ball rolling by building a portfolio to start applying for internships and jobs. With a beginner foundation of HTML and CSS I wanted to try to make a promotional email to put as a project. I made my own designs with Adobe XD and was able to pin them in the right spots in HTML, but I'm not getting what I want in CSS, particularly being responsive if the screen is under 600px. Learning things in the side dragged me into a rabbit hole on media queries and templates and not using external style sheets....and I think I got brought back to Earth in how complex this project might be, since I am not working with any clients and I have no idea how to even test the many ESPs. I just wanted to design a template and arrange it the right way to showcase. Along with design projects and responsive websites (JS is next semester, learning python right now) My question is, do people just use templates that already work and not just try to figure it out by scratch? I can lay the images and text down, but I can't make it responsive yet. I don't know what is acceptable for a junior portfolio, so I'm nervous that I'm making this more difficult than it needs to be. Thank you for any and all advice on this! [link] [comments]
Are there some more well known / respected online courses for UX as a developer? Posted: 25 Nov 2021 01:59 AM PST I'm a front end dev primarily and whilst I can do a bit of logical thinking about UX, I'm not fully versed in that world. Looking for something that would help bolster my knowledge and make my sites look even better :) [link] [comments]
What do I learn to create graphs from data? Posted: 25 Nov 2021 10:16 AM PST I want to create line graphs using data I will input manually, points scored by F1 drivers over the season to be exact, I know HTML and CSS quite well and a tiny bit of JS, can anyone tell me what to search on YouTube and Google to learn how to do this? TIA! [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Nov 2021 04:01 PM PST How can I explain to my boss that the out of date style of the company website means they're losing customers? It's a subscription model, so really it matters a lot, the first impression...which is lacking, the site feels stuck in 2005 & colour clashes are bad. My boss has a 'if it's not broken don't fix it' attitude, which doesn't really help. I was hired as devops but also for frontend work. How can I tell them nicely, and convince them it's worth it? Web dev looking to expand knowledge Posted: 25 Nov 2021 12:15 PM PST I''ve been developing for just over a year in my job where I do full stack web development for a (not so techy) company. While I enjoy my job and I consider myself good at what I do we only use basic web technologies due to the systems we work on (html, CSS, PHP/ MVC version of PHP and jQuery). I've recently started trying to learn other technologies such as React/typescript which I kind of got a hang of but moving from these other languages where things seem to flow logically it's a bit of a mind f*ck. I was just wondering if anyone else has made this transition and how they managed the changes, any resources they might have used etc. Any help is massively appreciated! Thanks [link] [comments]
Do you know any web dev courses with awesome visuals and animations? Posted: 25 Nov 2021 01:44 PM PST I'm trying to learn webdev and as a visual learner, I'm looking for a course with great visuals and animations to illustrate concepts. I've tried learning using codecademy and odin project in the past, but they were difficult to understand. Thank you for your help. [link] [comments]

Where can I find web developers specialized in Gaming? Posted: 25 Nov 2021 06:57 PM PST I hope this is the right page and place to ask. I am looking into opening a website like Umggaming.com . Does anyone know where I can find a web developer specialized in this field, and how much an estimate is? [link] [comments]
How exactly do you make 'dynamic' websites? Posted: 25 Nov 2021 05:19 AM PST My initial understanding was that I could start with some base HTML pages, and modify them accordingly based on my users. That is, add/remove/update the preexisting HTML file using JavaScript and based on state. Is this what is meant by a dynamic website? Or do you literally generate the entire HTML file on some backend server before serving it? [link] [comments]
Why does my custom font not work on mobile? Posted: 25 Nov 2021 06:09 AM PST as you can see here; https://hansramzan.com/portfolio/dip.php the letter 'a' is different when on mobile. I am using a custom font on my website that I created myself. It works fine on my computer, but when I view it on my phone, its not the same. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
Setting width to CSS grid overrides my justify-items: center Posted: 25 Nov 2021 05:44 PM PST Hi when I added width to my grid, the justify-items: center; style stoped working. Here is the code I'm referring too: .nested {width: 450px; display: grid; grid-template-columns: 1fr; justify-items: center; } What is happening with the width to make it no longer centered? apparently adding margin-left lets me move the grid but that doesn't really solve my problem. Is there something cheaper/similar than AWS S3 for archive files / infrequently used files? Posted: 25 Nov 2021 12:34 AM PST Hi I don't really want to use Big Tech. Is there someone who offers similar, or even cheaper Pricing for storage with the same Archive options? https://aws.amazon.com/s3/pricing/ AWS S3 really offers many options like Infrequent Access Tier or Archive Access Tier [link] [comments]

How do I make multi-step forms? Posted: 25 Nov 2021 09:16 AM PST Hi Guys, 1) I want to make a small eCommerce website for practice and I was wondering how can I carry forward shipping information from the shipping form, then get the user's payment details, have them look at the order summary and confirm it, and then save shipping address in the orders table(database) and process payment. 2) I don't have any merchant account so how can I use a payment gateway in my practice project? Please Enlighten me. I am using: NodeJS + ExpressJS, EJS (Templating Engine), MySQL Database I hope my question is clear, I couldn't describe it any better atm. Thanks! [link] [comments]
I made a beginner website with html and css how do I send it to someone ? Posted: 25 Nov 2021 07:12 AM PST So I want to apply for a coding bootcamp formation and there's a part where they ask about oursleves and mention that we can create a website or a video to show our motivation but there's no way to link anything. Do I have to actually create and hoste a webpage (I have no knowledge on how to do that)? Or can I somehow package html and css and send them an url with a download link ? [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Nov 2021 06:51 AM PST I want an autoplay, infinite scrolling carousel for the logos at the bottom of my home page (ideally on one line only). Any idea on how would I achieve this? [link] [comments] |
