Posted: 27 Sep 2021 02:24 AM PDT Got tired of having to implement auth and payment on my side-projects. I'made this template to focus on what really brings value to my customers Made with Typescript/React.js/Next.js/NextAuth.js/Prisma/Stripe/Tailwindcss/Postgresql https://github.com/gmpetrov/ultimate-saas-ts Edit: If you like this template you can follow me on Twitter for updates 🙂 [link] [comments]

Should I do a part time online boot camp? Posted: 27 Sep 2021 01:46 PM PDT I have a background in systems administration and virtualization and have been studying front end dev for about a year with some backend thrown in there. I have learned a lot on my own but I look at job listings and it always feels like there are big holes in my knowledge or some technology listed I haven't heard of even for junior roles. I can say I am comfortable with HTML, CSS/Sass, JS, react, express, axios/fetch, and mongoDB. I know enough to build some simple things but not enough to answer most interview questions. At this point my self learning has devolved into aimless google searching based on what I see in job requirements. I have made a portfolio, although it's not great and based on a design I saw on another subreddit. A bootcamp sounds faster and easier than what I have been doing but I don't want to waste a bunch of money, energy and ,time either. If this is a good move can anyone recommend one? Are there four days work week opportunities for developers? Posted: 27 Sep 2021 01:02 PM PDT Hello guys, I've been wondering is it possible to find a remote fulltime job with four work days as a dev? Have anybody attempted it/succeeded in this? What do companies think about it? [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Sep 2021 12:53 PM PDT I resisted going to React in general for a long time because I thought I need more JS knowledge, although I was writing vanilla JS for some time already. Now this situation came where I need to write a full-on Front+back cross-platform app. So... A few days ago started learning React Native on Udemy from Stephen Grider. And I'm kinda lost. We're going through a lot of topics really fast, and I'm not sure if I could write all the logic myself. What should I do? Rewatch the lessons? Maybe there is a good practice source? Suggest a one! I'm kind of lost in the hooks realm, the state is cool and all, but when it comes to context, I wouldn't say I'm totally lost, I understand the code somewhat, where everything comes and goes, but I just need more practice. Any good sources for this? Maybe you have an additional suggestion what I could read/do? [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Sep 2021 04:30 AM PDT I am in the market for a new laptop. I have been coding and studying front end web development on my old college Asus laptop. I mainly program on vscode and use HTML/CSS and javascript/react. I would like to work with Python a bit in the future as well. It is time for me to upgrade. Does anyone have recommendations? I am having trouble even deciding whether I want a windows, MacBook, or Linux OS. Thank you for any help!! edit: My budget is under 1200$. I would like to stay under 1000$, but I would fork out 1200$ if need be. I live in the United States. [link] [comments]
Fullstack job: Advice for Third and Final Inverview - with the CEO Posted: 27 Sep 2021 01:38 PM PDT I've been interviewing with a small firm for what they call a "full stack" position, though really it seems that it will be heavy front end React with a little bit of writing Flask endpoints in Python. I'm self-taught, coming from about 1 year of building some good (and many bad) projects with React on the side. I had the technical last week which I was convinced I didn't pass, but they're asking me for one more interview, this time with the CEO. I'm partly hoping it's just a "due diligence" interview where the CEO personally gets to vet me to make sure I don't come off as a total newb or asshole type of person, but since this person was at one point (or maybe still is to some extent) technical I really don't know what to expect. What kind of questions would a firm CEO ask an incoming full stack developer? what kind of questions should I be ready for? And what are some smart questions I might be able to ask him as well? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Sep 2021 07:19 AM PDT What's up all I'm a senior full stack web dev with about 9 years of experience in the field and I'm looking to create my own e-commerce site for a personal passion of mine. I know that I can build my own custom site and use something like WooCommerce's API to integrate the shopping cart/checkout/etc - that's not the problem. The issue is the time I'm able to dedicate to the project. My question is, with how far these website builders have come in recent years, do y'all think that something like WordPress is limited in terms of customization? I only ask because I have used WordPress to make a site once like 7 years ago and I remember it being pretty limited. But I saw that WP has out-of-the-box functionality with WooCommerce and like I said, the issue I have is the lack of free time to work on the site and that sounds great to save hours of time writing boilerplate and learning the WC API. Just thought I'd ask in case anyone one else had experience with it. Thanks all! [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Sep 2021 07:58 PM PDT In multiple tutorials, I've seen people utilise ports 3000, 8000, and 8080 (my university lecturer uses this one). I was wondering if there was any sort of distinction between them or they're just being utilised as they are above the restricted port range? [link] [comments]

Static HTML is for SEO better than dynamic React+APIcall. What about React + Static .json? Posted: 27 Sep 2021 02:11 PM PDT Hi. E.g I have a .json file in my storage bucket my-storage-bucket.com/why-rabbits-cool.json If someone calls now my-blog.com/why-rabbits-cool React just loads the .json file from the bucket and builds up the page. Is that better for SEO than loading the data from a cloud function API that has to first get the data from my SQL database? maybe google is able to crawl the .json better [link] [comments]

how to start freelancing web development? Posted: 27 Sep 2021 03:45 AM PDT how to start freelancing as a web developer from a 3rd world country (Jordan in the Middle East ) without being locked in the very cheap hourly rate as it often happens to 3rd world developers? I know how to build enterprise-grade software as a java backend engineer(mainly java but I can work with anything), I also started building frontend apps with react recently. any advice on how to start and where to start without falling into the cheap 3rd world developer stereotype? and also how to start in general, like how to get my first client?
