Posted: 18 Apr 2021 12:49 AM PDT Sometime ago, I managed to reproduce the results of this paper, using python and cython. I had kept it hidden because, as a PRNG it's incomplete. So, it's not a fully implementation of the MIXMAX PRNG. Hopefully I'll get there, sooner or later. Nevertheless, I thought that someone out there, might find my work interesting. As far as I know it hasn't been implemented before in python/cython. Hence the share. Apologies for not having put docstrings yet in my functions. Hopefully hints will remedy somehow this drawback. Feedback is welcome. [link] [comments] |
Are Akka Actors widely used in industry? If so which libraries/frameworks use them? Posted: 17 Apr 2021 06:57 PM PDT Learning about distributed systems I was told to learn about Akka actors. I've never heard about them before so I was wondering where / how they are used. I've heard about things like Apacha Kafka which use messengers, but reading up it sounds like that's not the same as Akka. Are there well-known frameworks that use Akka? If not, what can I get out of learning Akka as it relates to how distributed systems work today? [link] [comments] |

I have absolutely no tech knowledge. What does this mean?? [link] [comments] |

What are the essential things that an entry level software developer should know? Posted: 17 Apr 2021 06:27 AM PDT I hope this is the correct subreddit. I just got an entry level software developer job at an automotive company. I recently finished my bachelor's degree in Information Systems. What are some things that I need to know and should be good at to prepare for my start in software development. [link] [comments] |
How important is it to know Networks and Distributed Systems as a Software Engineer? Posted: 17 Apr 2021 07:17 AM PDT I want to be a software engineer. The past semester, I was enrolled in Networks and Distributed Systems and definitely didn't learn as much as I should have. Someone asked me to be partners in the beginning of the semester, and he ended up doing almost all tge projects without asking me to work together, and I didn't express to much concern about it because honestly I was fine with having less work. I was wondering how often networks are involved in a typical software engineering role because if it's really important, I will be sure to watch some youtube videos to get a deeper understanding. What I'm thinking right now is that it won't be much of an issue at all (unless I pursue jobs in this specific field, which I am not attracted to) and won't be nearly as important as writing clean code, algorithms, object oriented design, etc. Any advice? Posted: 17 Apr 2021 07:43 PM PDT Hello smart people. I need some advice about computer science and being stuck in the toturial world. I started getting more serious about comp sci in March but when I try to develop and practice my skills I turn to the internet and start searching up toturials. I don't really learn as much when I have the answer right in my face so I need to know how to escape this toturial world asap so if I go into university I don't fuck up. [link] [comments] |

How would you build a machine learning platform (tensorflow) from just built-in code? Posted: 17 Apr 2021 10:21 AM PDT As in, hypothetically, no other ML frameworks, etc exist. Where do you start? Writing 50,000 if statements? [link] [comments] |
VS Code or PyCharm? Or recommend another IDE? Posted: 17 Apr 2021 11:54 AM PDT Hey guys, so I have recently really gotten into programming. I have been using Sublime for the time being but have wanted to move to a proper IDE for some time now. I have been learning new programming languages such as Java, CSS, HTML, Javascript, Python, etc. (Python is my mainstream which is why I am considering PyCharm). Which is the better IDE? Also, I can't afford IntelliJ Ultimate. I have read a lot of places, and they both say to use one over the other. Some other sources are simply outdated. What do you guys think now? TL;DR: I need an IDE that supports a lot of languages that also don't cut corners. VS or PyCharm? [link] [comments] |
Can anybody explain the advantages and disadvantages of both direct and binder 3D printers? Posted: 17 Apr 2021 07:31 AM PDT Internets been real unhelpful - half the time when I find something it contradicts something I read before Thanks [link] [comments] |
