Happy 100,000 subscriber anniversary Posted: 30 Aug 2020 05:52 PM PDT It is pretty surprising to me we've managed to amass 100,000 people interested in this topic, just short of the subreddit's 12th birthday. I'm sure we'll never get to a million. I'd like to thank everybody who's participated in this experiment one way or another. The reverse engineering reddit is largely the same as it has been for the last 12 years, except for the first two years or so, where it was mostly just me posting academic program analysis papers. Individual users have come and gone, but the posts still display the same level of technical depth, and the commenters are generally helpful, knowledgeable, and polite. We've grown slowly -- /r/netsec is 1.5 years older, and has 383k subscribers -- but that is not a defect in my opinion. Ultimately, there's a limited amount of information published about reverse engineering, and I wouldn't want to dilute the technical focus by broadening the scope to things that, well, are not about reverse engineering. As far as I'm concerned, everything is largely working the way it should, and so there aren't any immediate plans to change anything about it. Keep posting good submissions, keep the comments civil (as they usually are), and keep reverse engineering. Thanks, everybody! [link] [comments] |
