I've noticed in the past that after searching to see if a domain is available, it's being squatted the next week when i decide to purchase. Which domain registrars do you trust not to do shady shit?

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 06:49 AM PDT

I probably have to write some text here or my post will be deleted by the bot, but the title says it all. I was about to check a few domains, then i remembered being burned twice before at this research point where previously open and obscure domains suddenly had a message requesting thousands of dollars to buy them. The domain registrars must have bought them, or sold my search info to another company who did, so i was just wondering which ones you all trust?

I was tired of having 30+ tabs open

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 09:41 AM PDT

    Hey Web Devs!

I've been a "web developer" for a couple years now, I'm always tinkering with something or working on a side project. I also have many other facets of work/learning/personal/side projects. I spend most of my time working in a browser or other app. Basically all of my writing, development, designing, community involvement (like Reddit), and personal browsing is done in a browser.

I started to get overwhelmed with all of the things I was working on and even just the daily chaos that was working/using a web browser for everything. I always had way too may tabs open, I lost things regularly, and got distracted constantly. I tried to keep myself organized but I was frequently side tracked by other work and urgent tasks.

I thought, there must be a better way. After reading about productivity strategies and trying other apps to keep myself focused, productive, and efficient I decided I needed a better solution. General "project management" and productivity apps weren't working, I was still facing the same problems just with another app in my tool case now.

So, I started building Partizion. The main methodology that productive people employ (and is the foundation on which Partizion was designed) is that multitasking is 1. impossible and 2. less efficient.

The more you "partition" (see where I got the name from?) your work, and focus on the task at hand, the more efficient and productive you can be. You'll finish tasks faster, you'll stay on track to complete your daily checklist/goals, and you'll be able to pickup where you left off or switch contexts/tasks much more easily.

I built this methodology right into Partizion. You can separate your work, create groups of tabs for projects/tasks/daily habits and open them with one click. Partizion is still in its early stages but I have committed to developing Partizion into the tool that should have come standard with every web browser.

If you have some free time, I'd love for you to check it out and let me know your thoughts. I'm open to all feedback + suggestions!

    Happy Developing/Hacking/Redditing :)

    Looking for cheapest webhosting solution

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 03:58 PM PDT

    Hello!

I'm a student who dabbles in web development. Currently I'm in the process of designing websites (purely CSS, HTML, JS) for a few close friends and I am trying to find the cheapest/best way to host them.

Every Google search seems to point me towards services that make you pay for web builders at even their most basic price tiers. Are there any dirt cheap platforms that offer nothing but hosting HTML, CSS, and JS files?

    Made an English-only hentai website

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 03:56 PM PDT

Note: Mod suggested me to re-post on Saturday, so here it goes:

    https://eahentai.com/

Yeah~most of you are probably disgusted and rather go fap to mini diva on pornhub because it's the real deal. Welp, I do enjoy doing looking at both because it really depends on the day and the mood! Anyways, this is what we did for our summer project (parents won't let us play ball outside, so I guess we're making a hentai site).

If you genuinely care about giving pro-tips or suggestions to improve the website. I'm all ears!

I had received a few suggestions (like 2 >.<) on what to improve on the site. The one thing that we're still trying to fix is the position of the navigator (reader) on the mobile side. It changes on the desktop, but for some reason it's not on the phone.

And no, I'm not going to put this on my resume. ha ha. ಠ_ಠ

I made Oozebear as a website that lets anyone practice, perform, stream and share live audio improv or dramas together for free. I hold open jams every Monday at 7PM ET and Saturday at 5PM ET (links in comments)

    Hi I'm Eric. I made OozeBear.com

There's a large list of all the features OozeBear has on a post I made in the subreddit androidapps too.

Besides being able to share your audio performances live online as they happen or as their own audio recording page after the show is over, just this week I've also added a new feature that lets you start your own private podcast RSS feed OR turn any recording into an episode on the "OozeBear Public Podcast" for free.

I've made a Discord channel to make it easier to discuss collaborating with others here

Portfolio site doesn’t seem to work on Apple devices.

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 03:50 PM PDT

Mobile Screenshots. My portfolio is built with Gatsby and is being hosted on netlify. The css was made using sass and css modules. It's not finished yet and right now I'm just making sure it works live before I continue adding some more content. My portfolio... The css and svgs seem to work fine on non Apple devices, but when I open the site up on iPhones the svgs and the some aspects of css are not working properly even when I'm using the chrome app on my iPhone. In the pic I posted screen shots from an iPhone on the left and an android on the right. I don't have a MacBook on me, but it seems to work fine on my pc. What can I change or add to my site to have it work properly on Apple devices?

How do VPNs affect new location security in apps?

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 03:48 PM PDT

Hey everyone, I was just thinking of some enhancements to add to my app and I started thinking about how significant apps like Facebook's and Amazon's notify users for a possible account breach when a new device/location is used for logging in. Then I began wondering how VPNs affect this logic in the app, and/or how these large companies account for it.

Do people who use VPNs constantly get security alerts? How do companies account for VPNs being used so they aren't constantly sending out alerts or accidentally lock a user's account?

How to create this cool audio player widget / controller?

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 03:27 PM PDT

    https://fifteen.pm/11

If you enter this site, on the bottom left there is a way to select songs. The div id is player-container and nested within is play-button-container and tracklist-container. I'm wondering if this comes from some kind of package or completely custom made (if so, I can just lift from the HTML right?)

How difficult would it be to recreate the basic functionality of Gmail (for example)?

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 03:17 PM PDT

I was wondering about the process behind creating a complete email service. How difficult would it be to create a website where users can sign up their own account that gives them an email address, and then manage what mail is sent to that address.

Do big companies create their own email services to go with their custom email addresses?

(PS: I'm not new to Web Dev, all the above is not new to me, except for creating and managing an email address.)

    Self thought Portfolio review/critic

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 07:30 AM PDT

Hi guys, I've been self teaching myself about web dev and programming for the past year and I've just completed my portfolio with two projects & resume and I just needed some feedback and guidance on how I can get better and if I should start applying now. My main focus is front end with Html, css, javascript and React but I've also learned nodejs and mysql and made two full stack projects. One is a property listing site www.smartlister.website and another is a virtual hospital that connects patients and doctors through video chat www.Ehealth.work . My portfolio site is located at www.isralhadero.com , please give me your honest opinion, no matter how brutal it maybe I'm just looking to get better.

Demo login for the property listing site -

    email => [KarenS@yahoo.com](mailto:KarenS@yahoo.com) password => 195419

    Demo login for Ehealth -

    provider - email => [JoeA@yahoo.com](mailto:JoeA@yahoo.com) password => 195419

    customer - email => [Isralh92@gmail.com](mailto:Isralh92@gmail.com) password => 195419

and then you can start the video chat between provider and customer (patient).

Looking for a JavaScript book to learn

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 02:44 PM PDT

    Hi everyone

I've been teaching myself HTML and CSS for the last year or so in my spare time. I'm pretty comfortable building static sites and I now feel I need to move onto learning JavaScript. I feel like I'm progressing slowly with the language, I can do things like the obvious todo list and I've built a couple of image sliders so nothing to fancy I know.

I'm really keen to understand the JavaScript fundamentals properly before moving onto a library. I'm just trying to understand the object oriented programming side of it currently and I really feel like a JavaScript book I can take with me anywhere I go will help me. Whenever I get some spare time it would be good just to have something to refer to. I do find JavaScript quite overwhelming at times but I guess maybe it's because I don't have that programmers mind currently and it's still all very new to me.

Just wondered if anyone could recommend a decent JavaScript book I guess that is ES6 based.

    Really appreciate any advice

    Thanks all
