Posted: 07 Apr 2020 02:32 AM PDT Hi, This is a follow up for this. So now I have a nice, not cancallebale pop up dialog at the very first start of my app. It tells my users that my app collects data for statistics and ad personalization and by clicking 'Accept' they agree these terms. Below that I have 2 links for my app's terms and conditions and my privacy policy. In my privacy policy I've linked all the third party services which collects data. At this point all they can do is:
My question: If my users are not really "online" users, because I don't use any server, personally I don't collect data, so there is no data associated with the current user/session by me, how could I solve an opt out? Should I really implement a server side to save some kind of identifiation of user consent just to make them able to opt out? Is it really a responsibility for every developer who use ANY statistic measurment software or ads? Morover: Google Play and App Store do also use statistic measurmenet, so theoratically if you do not implement any other third party services or ads, you also have to pop this consent dialog to the user's face, aren't you? Is this means EVERY SINGLE APP IN ANY STORE should start with a consent dialog? Thus every single app's should have an online database for saving user identification with consent? So theoratically if a user would send me a mail that he want to opt out, what should I do? What user identification data could be used to send that to my third party partners like Firebase or AdMob to delete this particular user's data? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]

Best way to learn game design as an experienced developer Posted: 07 Apr 2020 10:37 AM PDT I'm an experienced developer looking to get into game development. I'm learning unity and definitely not an expert yet but learning quickly. I also want to learn the principles of game design as well. I was wondering the best way to learn this. Any book, or online courses? I find most courses have some focus on basic development which I don't need. Thanks! [link] [comments]

I’m interested in making games, but I have no idea what I’m doing Posted: 07 Apr 2020 08:01 AM PDT During this quarantine, I thought it might be a good idea to try something new. I have been interested in programming and game development for a while now - I started using scratch about 2 years ago, but I never really followed up on it. So I challenged myself to use a more complex engine. I wanted to try learning how to make a 2D game on Unity first. Only problem is I have a MacBook Pro: it overheated in less than 10 minutes. So now I am looking for other engines that might work on a MacBook. Any suggestions for a game engine (that isn't scratch) that won't send my computer into the depths of hell? Or should just give up on using a MacBook? Thanks! [link] [comments]

How to avoid playing games while building them? Posted: 06 Apr 2020 01:47 PM PDT I'm building a game with Unreal Engine. I purchased a new PC with really good specs to build this. However I have an addiction to video games, specifically competitive shooter games. It is too easy for me to binge on playing a game, when I'm supposed to be working on my game. I don't know how I can address this issue. I considered getting a trackpad for the PC instead of using a mouse. However all the Windows trackpads suck horribly. I tried using a rollerball mouse but really hated it. And if I were to keep using a traditional mouse, it almost seems inevitable that I sink into a gaming binge. How do you control yourself from playing games when you are building games? I really would like to continue with my game project but after so many days wasted to playing games instead, I'm actually considering working on something else. [link] [comments]

How do you program interactive music? Posted: 07 Apr 2020 07:14 AM PDT In some games music interacts with your actions, like in doom when you execute a demon, the music stops. Or in hotline miami and my friend pedro, when you got hit, music goes weird. How do they program that? No need for a very technical answer [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Apr 2020 10:51 AM PDT Someone should make a new, modern version of Star Wars empire at war from 2006. Instead of attacking planets you could attack areas of land. There could be a Roman campaign where you have to take over Europe. [link] [comments]

Steamworks Depot files targeting problem Posted: 07 Apr 2020 10:40 AM PDT Hello, I'm trying to deliver my builds to 3 different platforms (OSx, Linux and Windows). For some reason the Content folder that isn't targeted is the one that gets published and the empty file is downloaded through steam client which has nothing except empty .txt. If anyone has any experience please contact me, I'm losing my hair over this... Best regards, [link] [comments]
