Researchers have computationally modeled the various brains and bodies of a species of weakly electric fish, the glass knifefish to successfully simulate "fish brain transplants" and investigate. The "Frankenfish"quickly compensated for the brain-body mismatch by heavily relying on sensory feedback.

Undergraduate research paper topics in algorithms

    Posted: 24 Mar 2020 10:51 PM PDT

Hey all, I'm in a graduate algorithm analysis and design class (as an undergrad), and one of the requirements for the course is that we have to write a research paper (~10 pages or so) on a topic of our choosing. The only issue is I'm not entirely sure what I should write about.

I know that, as an upper-level CS student, I should try to write about a "new" topic, instead of just repeating what someone else has already done, but my issue remains with the first problem; I don't know what is a good topic. I have a strong interest in embedded systems and high-performance computing, but couldn't find any good topics in those specific domains. Can anyone suggest any topics? Thanks!

EDIT: after doing some more digging, I found a topic I'd love to research about: binary space partitioning.

What innovative/ambitious research project would you undertake had you the time and resources for it?

Aside from a time machine (haha), I'd probably go with finding cheaper alternatives to mass producing artificial organs and such.

I'm curious what other people would pursue given the time and resources for it, no matter how ambitious and revolutionary the prospect is (though be serious in the sense of not saying something like "I'm gonna invent unicorns" or anything haha). What would you do?

Confused about conveting propositions to sentences

    Posted: 24 Mar 2020 11:07 AM PDT

Assume following propositions translate to following sentenses: P: It is raining Q: I have the time R: I will go to a movie.

Now how do we translate the following proposition into sentence: R=> -P ^ Q

    Thanks
