ELI5: What is Partition Tolerance in Cap's Theorem Posted: 04 Feb 2020 03:35 AM PST I understand that Cap's Theorem is a list of guarantees - Consistency, Availability, and Partition Tolerance and says that it is impossible to provide all three at once I understand consistency and availability. Consistency is getting the latest version of the data from the system and availability is that the system is always up and running(no errors) I didn't quite understand what partition tolerance meant. Partition Tolerance - 'The system continues to operate despite an arbitrary number of messages being dropped (or delayed) by the network between nodes' Can someone give an ELI5 explanation/example of what partition tolerance is? Is it if you're running a service with four hosts and two of them go down, your service will continue to operate? Hosts being a way to partition the service. [link] [comments] |

CPU (Memory : read and write where does it come from or go to?) RTL Posted: 03 Feb 2020 05:27 PM PST So if I have a RTL Code that states just read IMEM or DMEM DRAM and so on Where does the data go to? My script only tells me that memory can read and write that's it. Now for my exam prep I have exams where these commands occurr in RTL Code and we have to add code to it. So could someone ELI5 this? I have some problems with RTL as well like N.ACCUMULATOR Where in the code no N is states so what does this mean? Thanks [link] [comments] |
