Just a friendly reminder that mental health is a real thing, emotions are complex, and everybody struggles with something. Game Dev shouldn't make that worse.

Need some FREE dark baroque/electronic soundtrack for your game ? I have seven titles ready to use for you !

    Posted: 01 Sep 2019 07:16 AM PDT

    Hello GameDev ! :)

I am an independant musician, and years ago I composed seven titles for a webserie OST. Unfortunately, because of a lack of resources, I could never manage to achieve that webserie. What is left of it now is the music.

I always desired to give that music a second life, and some friend of mine advised me to contact indie game developers, who are often in need of original music of a particular style.

So, if you are currently seeking for a soundtrack with an eerie atmosphere, and that your game is in a gothic, horror or magical universe, I am ready to let you use my music ! The only requirement would be to credit me, and to PM me before doing so, so that I can give you 320kbps MP3 or any audio format you need. Also, I would try to advertise your game to all the gamer friends I know. ;)

For a listening, here it is : https://ludwigdelarge.bandcamp.com/album/manichea

    Spritesheet software with mirroring support?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2019 10:47 AM PDT

Hello, I'm creating a game its kinda like overwatch mixed with stardew valley in 2d form, I'm looking for a tool that allows me to draw characters or spritesheets but with mirroring ssupport when drawing a character that way is symmetric. I Originally I started with voxelshop when characters were going to be in 3d (animating 3d not for me) and that voxelshop supports mirroring of a pixel but pixelshop doesn't, any suggestions of a software with pixel mirroring?

Has someone developed a VR memory palace ?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2019 11:42 AM PDT

Maybe a sandbox environment where you can draw and place objects to create a digital memory palace that can aid you in exams or any situation that needs extensive memorization ?

    Bluetooth Unity Networking

    Posted: 01 Sep 2019 10:18 AM PDT

I am making a two-player game where the users have to connect locally via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. I will use Photon for the Wi-Fi part but I still don't know how to connect two players with bluetooth. Does anyone know a solution for my problem?

P.S. I would prefer if it's free, but I don't know how possible that is.

Its just a hobby thing i want to do so if anyone is like me and looking for someone to help make a game with and doesnt like the coding side of it, feel free to just put a comment with some sort of way of communication and ill be happy to give alot more info on everything.

Is a cover letter required when applying for an art/design role?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2019 11:31 AM PDT

I have a CV and portfolio prepared to send UK/EU studios for a textures/materials artist role, but I'm wondering if I need to provide a bespoke cover letter in addition to each.

I've heard some conflicting advice on this and don't want to fall short of the mark on my first attempts.

How likely is it that a studio will read a cover letter on top of a CV and portfolio?

3 weeks free: start developing a game. Where to start?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2019 10:22 AM PDT

    Hello,

I'm on mobile, I'll do a proper search later for resources on the subject but I wanted to post here anyway.

I'll soon have 3 week of vacation and don't want to pass them playing games, so why not make one?

What are some good resources and what technologies should I use?

I'm a c++ dev with knowledge in typescript/angular. I suck at everything that is art oriented. I'd like to try going either for a gatcha style game or a rogue like game. The gatcha would be for mobile, rogue like would be pc/console.

The goal is not to make a commercial release, but more to train my skills and learn new skills and technologies.

I think I said everything useful and hope you'll be able to guide me

Best programs to use for creating images for your games.

    Posted: 01 Sep 2019 09:39 AM PDT

    Hello all!

Very new to game development and I'm learning Godot 3 in order to make some simple 2d games for smartphones.

What are the best programs to use in order to make some pixel art for my games?

Photoshop I'm sure is a go to, it if I wanted something a bit cheaper (or dare I say it free) while I'm learning are there any recommendations out there?

Thank you all in advance for any advice!

    Art style from miyamoto(ios)?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2019 08:47 AM PDT

    miyamoto

I love the art style on this game. Does anyone know how to do that style? Is like a shader that normalizes the colors?

I don't know what to call this to even google it.

Need help with elevator pitch of a game!

Hi, guys. Need your help! I am testing the short pitch for game. Tried to write small text and want you say your minds about game by this pitch. I want to know is this pitch was written clean? Thanks!

Casual 2.5D adventure / RPG / action game in a medieval setting with elements of Slavic mythology (graphic style like Castle Crashers, Battle Block Theater, Lost Castle). Opportunity to play co-op up to 3 players. The player needs to get to the castle, simultaneously fighting with hordes of evil and unique bosses for each location. In the castle you need to find the heir and help him regain the lost throne. The hero can upgrade three directions: close combat (daggers, sword), medium combat (halberd, two-handed sword), long-range combat (bow, arrow, crossbow).
