    Understanding O notation

    Posted: 24 Mar 2019 03:57 AM PDT

Can someone help me understand O notation. I am not really good at algorithm so I decided to learn data structures. Even with youtube videos it still does not make sense to me. Like for example the O log(n) or the O(n + k) or anything related to O notation. How does one exactly could make a sense out of this formulas? It just confusing. I am really having a hard time connecting it to my implementation for example for simple sorting. I consider my self a beginner even though I have been coding quite a while now.

Curious what are the differences? Or are they the same? I am having a hard time understanding the course description at my school for it and tried comparing it to others but, had no luck trying to understand it as I don't really know the topics yet lol...

    Thanks for your time.

Is there any way to practice web development before I actually take freelance projects? Any competitions or websites?

    User/Kernel level threads

    Posted: 23 Mar 2019 11:59 AM PDT

Hi, I am trying to understand how user level and kernel level threads work. Is it necessary for every user level thread to interact with some kernel level thread in order to finish a task? (I think it is because we either use I/O devices or files).

My next doubt is that why do we need multithreading at both the levels. Also, if we apply multi-threading only at user level then all the threads will have to wait anyway because kernel is single threaded.

Does the university I attend matter if it isn’t too 10 or Ivy League

So I'm gonna be finishing up my prerequisite for computer science at a community college and I'm curious how much my university matters. I live in Minnesota and was thinking of transfer to somewhere like Minnesota state university Mankato to stay more local and save money but don't know if I'm just gonna have no career opportunities because it isn't by a tech hub and the university isn't crazy high ranked in computer science.
