    Hello, I'm making mobile games, one day I had put My Games on Itch.io Website with a price "$0 or donate" (donation version is same as normal version), I got like total 124 downloads on itch (I put there my old mobile games + new one). I was in job and I got e-mail message with information about "You sold Tree Tap for $3", I was like :O, Tree Tap is like 2+ years old game, to be honest I was not ready, that any1 would even donate to it (I was thinking that my new game "Fisherman" got donation, because it's a lot better). I know that itch is mostly for PC games, so I know I won't get any donations or anything like that. My games don't get IAP, so it's first ever "sale" in my life (my games got only ads). I know that this post may look so dumb, but it's my first "sale" in gamedev :O. Right now I'm making a paid tycoon game (gonna sell it on Steam, itch and other sites), and I got so hard times with making it (I got problems with cash, time + personal problems), to be honest, my new game is like 1-2 years still left to release. Not sure why, but the message from itch made my day better (I know it's "only" $3, but someone had donated them to me, strange feel, I'm still newbie and Tree Tap was my 2nd game).

    Tree Tap is just simple, old idle clicker, it was first idle clicker in my life, not sure why a person which donated chosen this game. What experience do you got with itch.io? For me it looks pretty fine.

    *I know I'm not rich, and it's more fail than success, but Yep, 1 person had "bought" my game :O, I'm so happy, I was not ready for this moment :P. And I'm so sorry for the dumb post, if it is too dumb, moderators can delete it, sorry.

    I'm rich :P, to be honest it's like 1 hour of my work in \"normal\" job. I'm done with first copy, now 175 more per month and I can give up with \"normal\" job :P

    So a week ago I just had the idea to create this game where you would have to make choices and those choices would affect the way the game goes ( Good old CYOA concept ). But mine would have inventory and conditions for a lot of the levels and choices. It was nothing too big, just something to pass time. I wanted to write it on my own from scratch so I made a small command line version of it. But as I was writing the game, I just had the idea of just turning the whole thing into an engine that allowed even others to build their own CYOA games on top of it.

    And well....

    Hey there, I'm not even sure what to call this effect so google didn't help me. I have an isometric concept and I'd like the player to show up behind the walls in the image attached. I successfully made the walls turn clear when the players collider hits a wall, but i have issues with longer sections of walls all turning clear ( it looks strange to have a very long section of wall go clear ). Thank you!

    What does the division of labor look like in an average game development company? Are there separate departments, like coders, writers, designers, etc.? Are most companies small, tight-knit groups, or are they all like EA-size?

    What positions are in demand? What skills make you valuable to a group?

    What does the outlook on the industry look like? Is there a ton of growth or is it oversaturated?

    Sorry if this isn't the right place for these questions. If anyone can point me to a better sub I'll check that out. Thanks!

    What's the best way for me to make sceneries / '' levels '' ?

    Probably a weird question, but i have always loved designing and creating. Been creating music for years and really enjoy just sitting at my computer creating stuff. A few months ago i stumbled upon Far Cry 5's level editor and have spent many hours juts creating sceneries and levels without having any gameplay in mind or even playing them. It's just like drawing for me.

    But for the past days i've been wanting more options, and looking into game engines or map creators and not really knowing which is the best for my situation. I'm not looking into making a game really i just want to chill and put down some assets and make a cool environment to scratch my creative side.

    So i've been looking into UE4 and thinking about going for it, i like the marketplace and that you can buy assets and even get some free, but what worries me is the coding. I've dip my toes into coding, just some beginner python in school learning electronics but i'm not afraid to learn the basics and try get the simple hang of it if it doesn't take me thousands of hours and years of experience just to make some small level/environment. Also been looking at unity but they seem very similar just different coding language i think (?)

    Anyway would it be feasible to get started in Unreal or Unity with no prior experience on engines just to create some levels for fun ? Or should i just stick to map editors in games. I've also looked at the Source one but not really liking the looks of it. Any recommendations ?

    First game, first coding language - Unity

    I know you don't have to be a professional coder to create games now a days but knowing a language helps more then not. So my questions is which of the Unity languages should I attempt to learn and if you have a reason why thats a plus? Javascript/Boo/C#

    Has anyone ever made a legit game with the DnD interface in Game Maker?

    Got started on full time development the last month and I spend so, so much time just learning what individual functions exist and what's possible in Game Maker. Sometimes it's really tempting to just enable the DnD interface but everyone treats it like a joke (even YoYo sometimes).

    Just curious, if drag and drop options exist, has anyone actually made a whole game utilizing them?
