Really good audiobooks on computer science? Posted: 29 Oct 2018 07:23 AM PDT Are there any worth listening? Also, audio lectures from universities; I have lot of material from universities on CSE, but unsure about lectures which do not need video part. [link] [comments] |

Is there a "reverse machine learning"? Posted: 29 Oct 2018 10:50 AM PDT Lets say I train a random forest regressor, but now I would like to choose the values of the inputs such that the prediction made is minimized. What is a good approach to take outside of random sampling? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Oct 2018 12:55 AM PDT Im currently in my senior year of high school and im far into applying to colleges and writing essays. I fell in love with compsci through programming and AP computer science electives I took my junior/senior year and I want to pursue my bachelors in computer science. In terms of success after college does what college you pick really matter in the long run compared to internship and networking experience? My high school GPA and test scores are pretty middling with a B average and im definitely considering a state school or somewhere that isn't so well known and it's kinda daunting seeing all these people who are in/aiming for Stanford while my reach school is somewhere like Michigan State. CS Internship deadline for major tech in Europe? Posted: 29 Oct 2018 01:38 PM PDT Unfortunately for a lot of companies the deadline date is not specified, which makes me wonder, whether I should take more time to prepare and then apply (extra month is still something) instead of applying now. The question is I don't wanna prepare and then it's gonna be too late? The question is more about when is it too late? Does anybody know? E.g. https://careers.microsoft.com/us/en/job/475700/Internship-opportunities-for-students-recent-graduates-Software-Engineering (no info), same for amazon, etc. PS. maybe it's not the right channel/thread for this, but didn't know where to post [link] [comments] |
Real life application of pathfinding algorithms? Posted: 29 Oct 2018 11:01 AM PDT So writing an assignment on pathfinding algorithms and I would like to write a bit about real life application of these algorithms with some detail. I know pathfinding is used in video games and in Google Maps. But the problem is there isnt much information on Google Maps. If you guys know how services like Google Maps generally work, that would be helpful. Thank you in advance. tl;dr:
