Texturing and Animating Stylized Characters Posted: 23 Apr 2018 09:33 PM PDT |
Posted: 24 Apr 2018 04:41 AM PDT So I'm working on an open world game and I'm having a dilemma with terrain. Should I build it in tilesets such as a scale of 50 x 50 in blender than with each new piece just kinda merge them best I can into unity? Or should I build just a giant piece in blender than transfer to unity? I'm assuming tile set but how do you go about merging the tiles together so it looks natural? Any help would be much appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Apr 2018 05:22 AM PDT Today we found that Roscomnadzor blocked some services that are important for our work (that is gamedev). What's affected: Tor Browser helps, but not always since it's based on older version of FireFox some services do not work as intended. Time to buy VPN or move to some other country?... Trying to buy "snes zelda" tileset character.. Posted: 24 Apr 2018 11:43 AM PDT Hi, I cant seem to find anywhere a spritesheet of a character ala zelda snes with "a lot" of animation.. I want attack, and most farming animations. anyone has an idea where I could buy that? [link] [comments] |
How does Valve pay people who publish their software? Posted: 24 Apr 2018 11:37 AM PDT If I upload a game and it does well Valve simply puts the money in your bank account right? But the part I'm confused about (not my situation) if you owe child support then does a cut get taken out every payment? I don't think it would as you don't work for Valve, it's not a job. If you don't have a company and publish will that mean it's 100% your money? Does it get taxed? [link] [comments] |

Anyone know how to handle joints iterations in Box2D using an unlock framerate ? Posted: 24 Apr 2018 03:12 AM PDT Hi, I'm currently developping a small 2D game, using Box2D physics engine. The framerate in the game is unlocked, which means that I use deltatime variable to control "relative speed". Until know, I was stepping Box2D world object this way :
Which was working great. But then I added some bridges which use revolute joints to work. The issue is that the bridges behaviour is completely different, with a small and high frame rate. I tried to adjust the iterations that way :
But it didn't work as expected. So, I'm asking you for some help. Does anyone here know how to handle that ? :) [link] [comments] |
Game development for raspberry pi in C# Posted: 24 Apr 2018 12:39 AM PDT I love to play around with game engines in my free time, I still have a raspberry pi model 3 laying around and I was wondering if there is any game engine/library available that supports building for linux/raspberry pi? I am thinking about building some couch games (co-op or party games) and my main programming language is C# [link] [comments] |

What's the fastest way to make money with gamedev for a begginer? Posted: 24 Apr 2018 09:59 AM PDT I want to live off as a solo indie developer, but I already know that's too hard and involves luck. I also don't have skills, I'm a begginer, just made my first game. I would like to know what's the fastest way, for a begginer, to make money to at least survive as one person? (Gamedev related) (I live in Brazil). [link] [comments] |
New to OpenGLES. Looking for advice on what direction to go. Posted: 24 Apr 2018 09:58 AM PDT Hey guys, I'm hoping to try and create my own engine in OpenGLES and make a really small game. Something like an endless runner. I've got OpenGL ES 2 for Android (A Quick Start Guide), but I'm looking for alternatives or options that'll help me learn faster/get something made quicker. Thanks! Posted: 24 Apr 2018 02:18 AM PDT Hello! I have, like a lot of you, I'm assuming, a billion ideas buzzing around in my head, but am really struggling with putting them down on paper: I just don't know where to start! So, I was wondering if someone knew of any good game design tools? I am not asking about development tools, but about tools that help the design process along. Preferably something like a document with questions about your idea, maybe a form to fill out the basics. All google gives me is articles about what language to use and which IDE and that's definitely not what I want. Or if anyone has any tips on actually getting to writing stuff down, that's much appreciated, too! Thanks! [link] [comments] |
