    Lol never been so proud

    Posted: 11 Dec 2020 01:25 PM PST

Today I have wrote a script for movement and for jumping(only 1 jump at a time) and I'm so proud because I have not even looked at 1 video on YouTube to write this script. I also made some spikes that kills you when you jump on them and restart the level. Please give me something to make know, I'm uncreative.

What are some items that a gamedeveloper would need?

    Posted: 12 Dec 2020 06:20 AM PST

I have gotten bored of web development and decided that i will learn game development. I already know python and html and im going to learn C# for game development. i am willing to spend the time and effort to learn it. My friends and parents have been asking what i want as a christmast gift and since there is nothing i really need i would you like to ask you game developers what are some things that i need or would help me in game development. Also this isnt my job just something i like to do instead of gaming.

Community driven location based MMO game

    Posted: 12 Dec 2020 08:53 AM PST

I am posting under this thread since the r/gamedevscreens is full of screenshots and videos, and this post is mostly with text :) .

I am developing a location based MMORPG that you can play on your phone.

The idea is to be able to farm, craft, build, plant, hunt, fight, adventure and loot with your squad in real life.

The game will have most features of WoW, Guild Wars, Black Desert and Guild Wars and will allow you to wonder this real world map and experience unique medieval and magical events and lifestyle activities.

Integrating the real world means that most real life POIs will have a direct connection to the in-game story (i.e churches become virtual places where you can worship gods, offer tributes, learn skills, etc).

You would be able to play it at home, crafting tools, cooking, planting your virtual garden (supported by your real life weather and environment), planning your next adventure with your squad, etc, and you can get out to the city where you live to visit different landmarks and complete quests, open a store at a local market, sell your goods, interact with other players, fight in the arena, learn new skills, etc. When you are ready, you could adventure in the nearby woods to discover creatures, NPCs, plants, materials for gathering or mining, etc, or even go into the mountains to start adventures, collect rare plants and hunt rare animals, loot hidden gems, mine rare minerals, etc.

The community driven side of things is the fact that I will be streaming most of the development, design and lore with the community and that I struggle to implement as many ideas coming from the community as possible. Contributors are welcome. Game will be free, obviously, and only playable on a mobile device (Android and iOS).

Technology-wise I am using Java & Spring stack for Backend and Ionic w/ Angular for Frontend.

Ofcourse, this game has its' own niche - not everybody is ready to actually get out of the comfort of their home to participate in game events, complete quests or fish / farm near real world seas / green parks.

What do you think about the idea? Do you have any suggestions regarding the core gameplay? Would you and your friends pick up the game and play it once it becomes available?

    Spine Crack?

    Posted: 12 Dec 2020 12:06 PM PST

    Hello,

Due to a computer science project, I now have to develop a game.

I have decided to develop a 2D platformer, like Hollow Knight, Neversong etc.

I already have a character design, but I need to animate it now, so I wanted to use Spine, and since it costs 70$, and it's only for a school project, I didn't want to buy it.

Do you know any cracks, or similar programmes?

Are there no games out there about video editing?

    Posted: 12 Dec 2020 04:25 AM PST

So, I know there are a lot of games about taking photos, and even other disciplines. But I'm curious if there are any games out there specifically about video editing. Skate 3 had a video editing feature but wasn't exactly about it, and other games have timelines you can scroll like Cyberpunk and Phantom Brigade.

Is this such a small niche that not even indie games cover it?

How to Create Animation For Character From Among Us

    Posted: 12 Dec 2020 09:01 AM PST

Does anyone know of any documentation about this effect?

    Posted: 12 Dec 2020 04:06 AM PST

Does anyone know of any documentation about this effect?

    https://i.redd.it/v0sb0tvdyq461.gif

Maybe someone know of any existing documentation on this effect of a character model following the players movements?

Ive found i few videos of people exploring this mechanic, but it literally lik 2-3 videos that i was able to find. And non of the creators shared any documentation about, i really need to achieve this effect, but i am not even an amateur in programming, and with no documentation its hard to understand where to even begin.

If anyone knows more about or has even tried to achieve something like this, maybe then they could share some documentation or some source code used for it?

Any information is highly appreciated. <3
