Do programmers know how important they are? Posted: 27 Dec 2020 04:02 AM PST I'm an artist mostly. I'm VERY aware of the 'leverage' programmers have since you can't make any game without them. So I guess I mean: do you guys feel that way? Or maybe the art side is seen as equal? Or even just equally mystifying? Thanks for your time! [link] [comments]

Posted: 27 Dec 2020 11:50 AM PST I am learning DirectX12 through developing a game engine (more like a renderer). I was looking for online resources on DirectX12, and I found the 'MiniEngine' found in the DirectX-Graphics-Samples repo. link: https://github.com/microsoft/DirectX-Graphics-Samples/tree/master/MiniEngine Is this an ok example to learn? Are there better ones as examples out there? I don't want to jump into learning something that is not the proper standard. [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Dec 2020 11:20 AM PST Recently Firearm companies have been getting mad at game devs for using their firearm names in their games without permission, is there some kind of list that has Trademarked firearms vs not trademarked ones? I hope my question makes sense. Thanks [link] [comments]

Game Development With Windows 95 Posted: 27 Dec 2020 12:56 AM PST Ok so I found my old Windows 95 computer one day this week. Well, at the same time, I finally fixed a bug I have been having with another project i am working on. I already know how to use C and C++, but I want a break from opengl shaders and I want to try going retro to spice things up a bit. The issue is, I know how to do mode13h programming, but I cant figure out 3D graphics, as I wanted to try and make a raycasting engine. If anyone has any resources/source code from the internet that would help, could you tell me them? Thank you in advance! [link] [comments]

Soundtrack Sunday #376 - Hot Demo Posted: 26 Dec 2020 08:41 PM PST Post music and sounds that you've been working on throughout this week (or last (or whenever, really)). Feel free to give as much constructive feedback as you can, and enjoy yourselves! Basic Guidelines:
As a general rule, if someone takes the time to give feedback on something of yours, it's a nice idea to try to reciprocate. If you've never posted here before, then don't sweat it. New composers of any skill level are always welcome! [link] [comments]

Posted: 27 Dec 2020 08:08 AM PST hello all you game devs out there and people who have absolutely no idea what there doing for the most part like me! im looking to make a group of people who can make games and stuff together for fun, im not interested in making anything huge unless we can figure out how, but i think it would be fun to work on a project with some like minded individuals to make something fun, we can brainstorm and show off our imaginations, hmu and see what we can make. ive been a very small game dev for years and i feel like i know quite a bit, but i want someone to help me discover more when it comes to game design. Whos in? [link] [comments]
