    Sound in area

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 04:54 AM PST

My title might misguide one but here is the question. Trying to develop my first demos of sound implementation with UE4, I find a conflict within me on where a sound of an object should end. Of course it is a subject of aesthetics but it also a subject to physical models. For example one could hear a heavy machinery in a cave not only in a fare proximity from it. Reflections would scatter all over the place yet rocky sound but still it would be acknowledged from an observer. A lot of games that I play perceive that type of sounds as player oriented sounds, you getting closer you start hearing it. Why is that?
What can I do to improve my understanding?

Which parent type is correct ? Unreal Engine

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 11:58 AM PST

Hi, it's my first time using blueprints and I'm just trying to figure out which parent class to pick. So basically, imagine you're trying to implement a television in a blueprint. You would have the main class where you'd implement the basic stuff such as turn off turn on, things that all televisions do. If you wanted to have different types of televisions, for example different screen sizes and different technologies (lcd, led) what class would you implement that in? Would it be actor component? I believe what I'm looking for is inheritance.

Post music and sounds that you've been working on throughout this week (or last (or whenever, really)). Feel free to give as much constructive feedback as you can, and enjoy yourselves!

    Basic Guidelines:

    • Do not link to a page selling music. We are not your target audience.
    • Do not link to a page selling a game you're working on. We are not your target audience.
    • It is highly recommended that you use SoundCloud to host and share your music.

As a general rule, if someone takes the time to give feedback on something of yours, it's a nice idea to try to reciprocate.

If you've never posted here before, then don't sweat it. New composers of any skill level are always welcome!

Synthetic datasets out of a game engine for machine learning.

    Posted: 19 Dec 2020 12:59 PM PST

    Hello,

I am working on a project which mixes Deep-learning with object tracking techniques. My problem is that I need to apply them into a game which simulates a real modern battlefield (like we see in modern games like call of duty,..etc) so that I can test the reliability of different approaches.

I did a search but didn't reach something which handles me all other things except for DL work. As example, a one can make a real battle field with real model in Blender Game Engine. But this is exhausting and not my career.

So, to summarize, is there a game engine which provides me a Battle field and I can directly plug in my algorithms?
