Posted: 23 Dec 2020 07:56 AM PST Hey all, hope you're doing well despite the current situation going on! I've been working on a space where eventually indie game developers can meet, hang out, work on their projects, and attend events in the Netherlands. The goal is to make it all free of charge so anyone is able to join. Obviously due to the current situation (we're in lockdown) we can't have visitors over and it got me thinking; why not model the space into a game? In the game you're able to walk around and explore the space in it's current state (it's awfully accurate) and collect hats, secrets, place blueprints and find collectible cards. The idea is that the game will be updated often giving everyone an idea on how progress is going. I hope you like the idea and it inspires you to do something similar :) It's free to download for both Windows and Linux, all donations go towards the construction of the building. Technical aspects The game was created using Unity. To achieve the look all shadows and lighting were disabled and custom shader was created that allows me to set a color for each normal direction of an object. There's also ambient occlusion added and some other visual effects to make it a bit more attractive. Personally during the project I learned about avatar masks which allows you to disable certain bones when animating. When you pick up a blueprint or weapon the arms won't be animated anymore and instead go into a static pose holding either a blueprint or weapon. It's pretty easy to use and I recommend checking it out, feel free to ask me anything! [link] [comments]

How to make gameObjects climb on top of each other? Posted: 23 Dec 2020 11:08 AM PST I'm new to coding and need some help. My game currently consists of a cube gameObject which is my player and 4 sphere gameObjects which are friendly A.I. (I have coded the spheres to follow my player/cube). I now want the sphere A.I to climb on top of my player once I reach the objective (e.g a specific wall). The idea is for my player and A.I to climb on top of each other to reach the objective/top of the wall. Any feedback/ video or documentation links would be appreciated. Thank you. How long did it take to make your game? Posted: 23 Dec 2020 10:17 AM PST Hey! I'm just wondering how long does it take to create a 'full' game solo or with a another person. Can you also send me a link (steam, youtube) so i can check your game? [link] [comments]

UE4 Post Process Blendable Location Posted: 23 Dec 2020 01:57 AM PST Hi! I need to isolate the particles from the PP. I know how to do it using a material, but I want to know if there is a way to do it with the base PP volume (don't want the color grading on the particles). [link] [comments] |
