A developer friend and myself have just started a podcast called The Indie Circle, where we talk with devs about what it takes for them to make games. We’ve just launched the first four episodes, and would love it if you were to check them out :) (Link in comments)

A feature that should be in more games that include a "Family/Squad/Origination Tree" like in The Godfather II game.

A feature that should be in more games that include a "Family/Squad/Origination Tree" like in The Godfather II game.

If this some how breaks one of the rules, sorry, I'm posting this for a friend since his account got locked for being inactive. This game design feature should be more prevalent in Strategy-Management-Simulation Organization games. I feel like it add a bit more character to people you would bring on into your crew/army/etc.

Say, I'm playing a game where you manage a criminal empire or gang. You recruit some dudes that can barely do anything, but, one can pick locks, one can make bombs/explosives, and the last one is strong and intimidates civilians into doing something small, like distracting someone, or prevents them from calling the police.

You can choose who would be promoted to a captain to have more responsibility in the gang, could be able to pick locks and make bombs, as well as be able to lead a small group of thugs ( could lower ranking gang members that you recruited, or just his own entourage of no names cannon fodder thugs so to speak) to make jobs easier for them. Then eventually when they do enough in your eyes, they'll be able to lead their own smaller sub gang under yours.

Anyone else feel like this would be a feature that should be polished and updated to fit more crime/army/etc. games that go more into the management of the gang/fireteam/etc.

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 09:12 AM PST

I had this idea where I would simply play small indie games and make a small review on what to change, gameplay suggestions etc. So if you want me to play your game and make a small video where i give feedback, feel free to send a link to the game in the comments.
