Posted: 10 Oct 2020 02:27 AM PDT Hey Guys, through online courses, books, friends - I started learning on my own a few years ago. Everything you see on my page was created by me. What I struggle with sometimes (as a self-learner) I don't get a lot of Feedback for my site, just for my client's sites. Can you help me out and let me know what I do good and what I can improve? Much appreciated! [link] [comments]
[Showoff Saturday] Just finished my second portfolio. Used Eleventy, loving it so far! Posted: 10 Oct 2020 10:28 AM PDT I started to learn web development from the ground, by writing plain html and css files, then I slowly discovered js, a few libraries, then node, and of course hosting, and now I've just scratched what git and deploy tools are about. What I can say is how awesome is 11ty at following and encouraging that kind of learning curve progression About the website itself, I'm curious what you think of its design as I find it a bit unusual, but somehow on purpose. I'm also open to any feedback you might like to share. --> The website <-- [link] [comments]

[Showoff Saturday] Scroll animation months in the making Posted: 10 Oct 2020 09:01 AM PDT Pretty proud of my new landing page that took me about a year on and off to design: http://littleguylogos.com/ Took me forever to do it with ScrollMagic + GSAP, then rewritten only with GSAP when their own pinning came out. Animations inspired by the old generated.photos/ design and the Eames readymag page. [link] [comments]

Posted: 10 Oct 2020 01:41 AM PDT Growing up in the 90's during the AOL boom, one of the coolest things I found was browser-based games. A lot of us might remember Mafia Wars and various MUDs, but I remember distinctly getting in Vagabond's Quest, a browser-based dungeon crawler that eventually expanded into a windows application that was primarily PvP. Anyway, I put a lot of time into those games and they eventually were shut down with age. I always wanted to make one. And only decades later as a web engineer did I have the skill and finally set aside time to make a legit game out of that I've been able to keep up with. On the site I keep a blog and FAQ that have developer-focused sections for aspiring and professional web developers. There is also a link to the roadmap and the game itself that you can play (with an XP bonus event active for testing). The coolest feature I think is the sockets for matchmade PvP. It's been really fun working and figuring out live multiplayer elements. If you'd like to keep up with it, you can join the discord (shown on the game page in a modal). [link] [comments]

Best way to go about hand coding a website with integrated blog? [beginner] Posted: 10 Oct 2020 03:02 PM PDT Hi all, I'm trying to get my hands dirty with front end web development, and for practice I'm hand coding a personal website for my bread baking boyfriend who also wants to have an integrated blog to share posts and recipes. While I'm new, I find that the best way to learn is to just make the damn thing and figure it out as I go. I've done some research and it seems as though WordPress is the best option. Does anyone have any other recommendations for how best to integrate a blog onto a hand coded site? Thanks! [link] [comments]

AWS vs Azure vs GCP: First Impressions, Installing Wordpress Posted: 10 Oct 2020 01:45 PM PDT I made this comparison/walk-through between the three major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SX7JigJ2oT4 Pretty simplistic, I'm:
Definitely not what would qualify as a deep dive (wallstreetbets ayy lmao) but after searching the terms "aws vs azure vs gcp" on youtube myself and being less than overwhelmed with the results, I decided to contribute something myself! Let me know what you think, especially if there's something you'd like covered more in it's own individual video. I'd love the excuse to tinker with these cloud platforms more than my usual workflow. As an aside, I am aware of and have used DigitalOcean and Linode - if there's enough interest I'll cover those too! [link] [comments]
