Feedback Friday #410 - New Insights Posted: 17 Sep 2020 10:34 PM PDT FEEDBACK FRIDAY #410 Well it's Friday here so lets play each others games, be nice and constructive and have fun! keep up with devs on twitter and get involved! Post your games/demos/builds and give each other feedback! Feedback Friday Rules: Suggestion: As a generally courtesy, you should try to check out a person's game if they have left feedback on your game. If you are leaving feedback on another person's game, it may be helpful to leave a link to your post (if you have posted your game for feedback) at the end of your comment so they can easily find your game. -Post a link to a playable version of your game or demo -Do NOT link to screenshots or videos! The emphasis of FF is on testing and feedback, not on graphics! Screenshot Saturday is the better choice for your awesome screenshots and videos! -Promote good feedback! Try to avoid posting one line responses like "I liked it!" because that is NOT feedback! -Upvote those who provide good feedback! -Comments using URL shorteners may get auto-removed by reddit, so we recommend not using them. LEd - a new 2D level editor with some twists Posted: 18 Sep 2020 05:54 AM PDT Hello devs :) I'm Sebastien Benard, formerly creator of the game Dead Cells. I'm now working on a 2D level editor taking advantage of my experience making games for the past 20yrs. I'm now getting closer to public release and I'm looking for gamedevs feedback on the current app iteration. Every opinion is highly valuable and suggestions are welcome. It can be freely downloaded here: https://deepnight.net/tools/led-2d-level-editor/ The main features/concepts behind LEd:

Help needed: gamedev rate estimates Posted: 18 Sep 2020 11:45 AM PDT Hi, everyone. I am preparing to implement an estimate tool into my gamedev platform and I need a help from fellow gamedev professionals. The tool will ask the visitor a few questions about how many characters you want in your game, how many levels, art style, how many songs, and so on, and the tool will calculate estimates on how much would cost to produce a game with those characteristics. In order to achieve that, I need a sample mass of data and I want to ask you guys to fill the following spreadsheet with your own rates. To ensure we are on the same page, every value estimate should be in USD and every time estimate should be in hours. (please, if you need to use decimal, use . as a separator) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gnw_-_bDCB8TLnnxqed3t8kZbxznZhjSTfoF7Kud0uA/edit?usp=sharing (I added a single line just as an example and I will delete it after some entries are added by you guys) There is no need to identify yourself, just add value to the specific game elements and I will do the calculations with that. I will apply some mathematical concepts like mean, median, mode, minimum, maximum, percentage, deviation and will return a comprehensive report on the proposed game scenario, simple enough so any person on any company will be able to understand the complexity of the game development industry. Please notice that each element is related to 1 unit of its kind. Example: 1 character concept art is one piece of character concept art, not a level concept art. In 3d art, 1 unit is one character or asset, not an entire level. The tool will also help you if you are a lone wolf. For example: if you are a programmer and need to freelance artists for your project, you can calculate the estimates so you can adjust your budget to effectively acomplish the project goals. If you are an artist and need some code, just use the tool to know how much money you would spend on freelancer programmers. I have been researching this for quite a long time and I asure you guys the tool will be nice and will help you to show your clients or employers on how much effort is needed to produce a quality game. Any suggestion is welcome and as you know I am not perfect and I may have missed some elements of game development on the spreadsheet, so, feel free to ask me to add to it. [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Sep 2020 05:43 AM PDT Hi im a Solo dev currently making a prototype for an upcoming project. i was looking for a place to share my work in a more tight community. What im looking for more specificly is a smaller discord server, where you can acctually get to know people rather than posting something in a sea of thousands of messages. Im not necessarily looking for help (although im sure id ask once in a while) from this discord but more too share and have fun with other devs showing their projects, getting feedback, playing prototypes etc. Preferably 50-300 members, Focus on Developing Games with community in mind. Thanks in advance :) /Zky Edit: If i get no good options in a day or so i will make one myself! Link will be added in the next Edit [link] [comments]
