Advertising your indie game on Pinterest? Posted: 29 Jan 2020 05:02 AM PST Has anyone tried to advertise their indie game on Pinterest? Was it worthwile/effective? I'm already using google, reddit and facebook ads (with facebook surprisingly crushing everything else so far lol) and thinking about using Pinterest as well. Any insights would be appreciated. 3D game that looks like 2D game Posted: 29 Jan 2020 12:37 PM PST I'm planning to make a game that uses just 2D objects (like drawings) but the player can move not just in front and back. The camera will pe fixed to see the front of the drawings. I'm sorry if I didn't explained my idea well but I'm new in this domain. What I want to know is what game engine I can use? I tried to use Unity for this but I don't know if it accepts 2D objects or I'm just a noob -- [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Jan 2020 10:11 AM PST Hey guys, I am wondering how I pick up game dev again. I need a side hobby, and it has been a good 3 years since I last programmed. I don't know where to start again. All of the programs I have revisited are so complicated since I last touched them. How do I come up with a game idea because I always self doubt myself. Any suggestions? [link] [comments]

How important is a trailer for marketing? Posted: 29 Jan 2020 07:24 AM PST Hi, I´ll keep this short: I released a survival horror game and two gameplay videos (like 15 minutes long). Now I keep hearing that a trailer is important. Do you have experience whether it´s worth cutting a trailer? Are the gameplay videos enough? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Would you be interested with yet another YouTube channel for game development tutorials? Posted: 29 Jan 2020 06:21 AM PST So this is a question/discussion to help me decide on whether to try this or not I guess. Here is the thing on my mind: I'm finding the number of game development content on my own language lacking. This made me think why I souldn't try/do it? I don't exactly know if I'm capable of creating such interesting videos and edit them but my aim is to be able to produce some kind of mixture like Dani, javidx9, ChainBear (yes he's not related with game development but has quality videos). I kind of (yes kind of) like to share things and also believe it can make me test my knowledge, even help me improve myself as well. So far so good. Reaching more people would make me earn a bit from the videos as well, which I can achieve by having the English option. So one part of my mind is just thinking "Should I go with English videos with subtitles on my own language or videos on my own language with English subtitles?". I also think since there are lots of other examples for this kind of channels in English maybe going with my own language would decrease my total audience but may make it more populare due to lacking number. Here is the actual question, especially for the people whose mother language is other than English: would you prefer an English video with subtitles on your language or a video on your language with English subtitles? Posted: 29 Jan 2020 01:36 PM PST What do you guys think would be some good Minigames for combat? I'm thinking mashing for flight, shaking the cursor for projectile strength. Would it make my game stand out a bit more? [link] [comments]
How can I take uneven sprites and make them even? Posted: 29 Jan 2020 01:07 PM PST Say I have a multiple images that make up a horizontal sprite sheet for one animation, however the heights and widths of these images are uneven but all are on a transparent background. What is the easiest way for me to resize every image to the be an even width and height? What I'm doing now is simply manually resizing each image to the largest width and largest height out of all the images I have. [link] [comments]

Did you know some VR game publishers that you can recommend? Posted: 29 Jan 2020 05:11 AM PST Hi! I'm new on Reddit but I hope, you'll help me. Did you know some VR game publishers that you can recommend? Our team announces our first game on Steam without help and it didn't go well. We don't want to repeat that mistake again. Now we have an idea of the new title and we want to present it to someone who is experienced in publishing games. Thanks for all your comments. ;) [link] [comments]

VR 7 days to die kind of game in Unreal Engine Posted: 29 Jan 2020 12:37 PM PST so i recently, started looking at tutorials, i want to make a game in VR inspired by 7 days to die, i love that game and would like to create that game. i have so many ideas in my head, physics base combat, kinda like the new the walking dead game and blade and sorcery, i want to use the world as a weapon, make everything interactive (flower pots, chairs, doors, etc) and use them as weapons. i know its a huge ambition and i need to learn allot to make this happen. if anyone can provide tips or tutorials, that would be very appreciated. Why are there so few Indie MOBAs? Posted: 29 Jan 2020 12:35 PM PST I know that LoL and DOTA2 practically have a monopoly on genre... And that Online Multiplayer indies are normaly fated to die. But there is any reason beside that? Why there almost no attempts to develop indie MOBAS? [link] [comments]

What is meant by the word, “procedural”? Posted: 28 Jan 2020 01:38 PM PST Sorry, this may be a really simple thing but in my search to understand it, I've become more confused. Could someone enlighten me to what is meant by procedural? I keep seeing procedural generation or procedural animation posts. Thank you in advance! [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Jan 2020 11:41 AM PST Still brand new to this all. Was going to go Mac used and have about a 2k CDN budget but things have changed and it might be more like 1200 Just saw this, is it okay? https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/dell-g3-3590-gaming-15-nvidia-gtx-1050-i7-9750h-8gb-128gb-ssd-1tb-sshd-win-10-home-certified-refurbished/14412961 Otherwise I need some help with good specs for a refurbished MacBook - someone mentioned xcode being really intuitive for people (like me). Thank you all! [link] [comments] |
