Best way to make a small 3D browser based game? Posted: 28 Dec 2019 09:24 AM PST I'm developing a small interactive piece of art rather than a full fledged game. Essentially a static 3D object that reacts to clicks with animations and sounds. I want this to be able to run in a browser as well. I have decent 3D modeling experience with Rhino and other programming experience and am looking for suggestions. [link] [comments]

Help: List of Game Conferences/Events/Networking Opportunities in USA & Canada Posted: 28 Dec 2019 11:44 AM PST Can someone provide a list or recommendations of conferences/job fairs where people can go and network with big named companies in the USA or Canada? Example: A booth where I could meet a rep from Insomniac Games. I couldn't find much online. I hope this is the right sub? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Dec 2019 11:20 AM PST My sister is a writer, who writes fantasy books. I know how to code and do art. We would like to turn her world into a game. I need to get the information out of her head and into my fingers. She has no clue on how to write up a game tho. So I thought a logical solution would be to send her a GDD template, and have her fill it out. Neither of us have ever written up a full GDD, so I need some guidance on how to guide her. Any help, tips or ideas? Which GDD template should I give her? [link] [comments]
Need recommendations how to approach making a multiplayer real-time web game with multiple instances Posted: 28 Dec 2019 10:57 AM PST As the title says, I want to make a multiplayer real-time web game with multiple instances. It should be a 1vs1 game with a matchmaking system. By multiple instances I mean having multiple different game sessions going on simultaneously. A web game that I would take as a golden example is https://curvefever.pro/ What is the best practice to do so? Where can I start to learn? About me: I know classic web development, html, js, php, less.. A js framework I'm working with is Vue.js. [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Dec 2019 10:51 AM PST Hi, I have an issue here and I want to see if anyone knows anything about it - I have four buzz controllers but I don't have a dongle, is there anyway to intercept the frequency they emit? I know it's not Bluetooth, but I can't find anything on this. So if there is anything on how the Dongle receives messages and data that anyone knows, that'd be a great help. I have a raspberry pi, a Mac and some other stuff I could try to seek it with. Thanks guys. Also, if I need a special frequency receiver please tell me! [link] [comments]
How safe is it for me to discuss my own Design ideas here? Posted: 28 Dec 2019 10:32 AM PST I know this is probably a silly question but I'm paranoid about this kinda stuff and I don't want anyone putting a patent onto my idea [link] [comments]
What's a good way for me, a senior high schooler, to get into game design? Posted: 28 Dec 2019 10:27 AM PST Just like the title suggests, I'm a high school student, next year I'll be in uni, most probably studying Computer Science (despite everyone telling me that I should strike for Computer Engineer) and I'm somewhat worried about my future. In general, game development is kind of a weird new thing, especially in my country, and while my dream is to be a game director and/or designer, I can't do anything but be scared of the uncertainty my future holds. For starts, like I said, my country is kinda new to game development, nobody really knows how to get into it, and the people who do know are also the ones to say that it's a waste of time, money, talent and whatnot - and honestly, that's all that they know. Now here I am, in this very awkward position: fascinated by the medium of games, being infatuated by the GDC and all those tiny youtube channels who dissect games. I'm somewhat interested in programming, but at the same time I can't really see myself programming 24/7 nor do I really see myself working alone: I have some people's skill, lots of charisma, some creative writings, and just a lot of knowledge regarding history, philosophy or art. And here starts my problem: I've seen lots of people, my age even, already getting into game development. Aspiring programmers and artists, but in my case, I don't feel like I can offer much on my own. I'm amazed and inspired by indie games, but at the same time, I feel too little and too overwhelmed by any project that's any bit bigger than a ludum dare. I'm not a good artist, have no musical education (tho I'm planning to fix that), and I'm not even that knowledgeable when it comes to cs: I know as much about programming as one of those "learn how to program" videos, which means that I just really know only the basics. How should I proceed from the position I'm in? Should I develop something on my own? Look forward to entering a team? In what position tho? Should I keep Luduing? Get more into professional programming? Not care about this kind of stuff since I'll find a way to get experience later? Should I do three years of cs? five? What about later? [link] [comments]
