FLOPS vs. IPS regarding supercomputers...what's the distinction? Posted: 29 Apr 2019 03:55 PM PDT HI all, I'm volunteering with a computer museum that's opening up in Roswell, Ga (suburb of Atlanta) and I''m writing a 500-word summary on supercomputers. One thing I'm struggling with is understanding the difference between FLOPS and IPS. Well, no, I DO understand the difference (floating point number vs integer), but what I don't understand is why FLOP is a better indicator of computing power. So please, explain to me why FLOPS are a better measure of performance. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
