What is the cutest Turing machine simulator out there? Posted: 09 Nov 2018 12:00 PM PST I would like something with pretty animation, but also something that can show the contents of internal registers in an easy-to-read way as it's running. Being able to annotate regions of the tape would also be good, so that values can be read off after the computation. [link] [comments] |
Adjusting user ratings based on review quantity and viewership Posted: 09 Nov 2018 09:39 PM PST I have a toy project where I have a media metadata dataset with the following attributes:
What some non-naive ways to rank the ratings? Obviously the raw rating is bad because 100 people rating something a 9.5 is more likely to be good than 3 people rating something a 10. I also want to experiment with weighting higher viewership in the ratings. Right now I'm using this algorithm which has decent top results for being so simple but has some oddities when I dig in. For example: I'm much more interested in that 8.59 with 17 votes than the 6.53 with 100+ votes! But they are ranked in an opposite order. Some pointers/ideas would be useful! [link] [comments] |
[Question] Anyone have any information on recovering files? Posted: 09 Nov 2018 08:17 PM PST I'm not sure if this is the right sub for this question, but I need some advices on recovering deleted files. I accidentally formatted my entire disk when I was trying to reinstall Windows so I lost all of the backup files that I saved it on to the partitioned D drive (shouldn't have done that I'm an idiot). With the help of the easyUS file recovery tools, I was able to get the files and folders back, but they all seem to be corrupted (Txt files doesn't show correct info and exe files doesn't work, pictures won't open etc). Does anyone know if I am able to fully recover these files somehow? it seems like they hold some kind of information based on the 50gb size but I can't seem to open anything. [link] [comments] |
Why can't I get an internship? Posted: 09 Nov 2018 04:27 PM PST I'm a junior in computer science and I'm struggling to get an internship. I've gotten a couple interviews form career fairs but no offers. Any tips to land something for this summer? P.S. 3.5 gpa [link] [comments] |
