Operator Mono is the Comic Sans of 2018 Posted: 21 Apr 2018 02:10 PM PDT Am I alone in thinking Operator Mono is absolutely hideous, and terrible for code samples? Example here. I am seeing more and more people using it, especially in medium articles, and it physically hurts my eyes! Especially the italic variant. [link] [comments]

What is the oldest version of IE that we should support? Posted: 21 Apr 2018 05:04 AM PDT We are making new social media network that keeps their users data private for a small fee of $1 per month. We are wondering which version of IE should we support? There are many awesome features that we would like to use, but many of them are not available on old browsers. [link] [comments]
Digital Ocean, swap memory question Posted: 21 Apr 2018 01:47 PM PDT Does any have a digital ocean server? I was trying to install packages with composer (php package manager). And I got the error message " proc_open(): fork failed - Cannot allocate memory". I am told what to do is to enable memory swap. But, I have been told to avoid using memory swap because it is bad for the computer or something. The recommended thing is to add more RAM, but I am not really trying to add more memory into a server I am just playing around in. If I tried to free up memory would I finally be able install the packages and not get an error message? Is swapping memory as bad as people say it is? [link] [comments]

Posted: 21 Apr 2018 12:58 AM PDT I am looking for an easier way to build HTML emails. I am looking for something that should probably be compatible with Node.js dev-time utilities. I found Foundation Zurb for Email very promising, but eventually it turned out to be a mess:

Posted: 20 Apr 2018 06:13 PM PDT So long story short, a small company trusted me to build their current website from scratch. I'm a newly grad but I have a good knack on design concepts and technically capable. Any tips to make sure that I won't get ripped off? What must I ask them to sign to formally seal the deal off? Thanks! [link] [comments]

I'm hireable as a Jr. FrontEnd Developer? Posted: 21 Apr 2018 12:29 PM PDT Hi r/webdev! My name is Luis and I'm from Venezuela. My personal page is http://lrod.me/ and my question is: By mainly looking at the projects, should I be a able to get my first position as a Jr. FrontEnd Developer? I'm mostly interested working as a FrontEnd Dev with JavaScript and React, but I wouldn't mind working with other technologies :). It goes without saying that I'd be willing to do any type of interview, tasks and tests to prove myself. To be honest, I'm feeling a little lost (and excited too) because I've kind of finished working on all of the projects I had in mind when I started making my portfolio. Now that I don't have a super concrete task in mind, I'm not sure of what should I do now. My main goal in almost of my life is to go to Europe and work there, but as of now I'll be super happy working remotely or in any other Latin american country (there aren't many opportunities in Venezuela as of right now). I'll appreciate any advice, feedback or idea to improve my chances at getting a job in the programming industry. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Cookies vs flash cookies for storing user data Posted: 21 Apr 2018 11:51 AM PDT Which do you guys usually use in your projects? In my current use case I'm looking to persist user logins and I think flash cookies are a bit more resilient. [link] [comments]
How can I add a flex slider on my website? Posted: 21 Apr 2018 11:10 AM PDT Hi! I have this code but I struggle to add a flex pictures slider (diaporama) like the one which is in my code. Can somebody help me ? Thanks! :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Apr 2018 10:31 AM PDT Hello. I have been teaching myself the nodejs stack for a while now, and I get the concepts. One area I just have no clue on is how to create custom UI controls. I can create a page using a form, or buttons etc, I have also been using some jquery components (not touched react yet). But lets say I want to make my own custom UI control, how do I go about it? In a previous life I used to have a job making .net Winform User Controls, so in my head it should be similar? Any shove in the right direction would be great. [link] [comments]

Where should I post my website to get some review? Posted: 21 Apr 2018 12:44 AM PDT Hello, my website is on Greek language, where should I share it so will get some review(what should I change etc, or keep it like that)? I host it in my home. I'm not posting it here cause I think is against the rules. Thank you! [link] [comments]
Which Node.js framework should I use? Posted: 21 Apr 2018 02:45 AM PDT Alright, so I'm a bit of a novice at web development. I have got the basics down ok, but I want to start learning technologies that are popular and current. I want to begin to learn Node.js as well as react. My question is though, what node framework should I pick up? I'm not trying to do anything weird, I just want a straight-forward, powerful, well-documented framework to begin with. Something that could land me a job. Also, in addition to Node and React, I'm going to maybe try to pick up mocha and learn unit testing? Are there any other libraries or anything I should pick up with these for a solid foundation??? Thanks for your time! I know this probably gets asked all the time.. <3 [link] [comments] |
