Can someone simplify this for me? I don’t quit understand the two paragraphs at the bottom. English is my second language.

Numerical Linear Algebra or Convex Analysis and Optimization course?

I'm a master's student in CS, and I'm deciding between these 2 courses for next semester. I was wondering which one would be most relevant to theoretical CS and AI/Machine learning. I've looked at the course material for both, and convex analysis seems slightly more interesting to me but I feel numerical linear algebra might be more important, given that my linear algebra courses have served me extremely well so far in CS. Background: I have a B.S in Mathematics, and I've taken a normal linear algebra course, and an advanced one which was a purely theoretical treatment, consisting of the determinant as a permutation, hermitian operators and the likes. I've also taken a numerical analysis course, so I should be fine going into numerical linear algebra. As for Convex analysis, I've taken Real Analysis I and II so I also have the appropriate background for it.
