Posted: 27 Mar 2018 12:10 PM PDT I'm not in the industry yet but at home I like to take a jog every few hours, it is like an oxygen supercharge to my brain compared to idle breaks or even walking. Also boosts my mood and sends me back to my desk enthusiastic to code again (there's something gratifying about switching modalities from extremes). Is it common or uncommon for web developers to set their own schedules at work? How many of you guys have shower facilities? I doubt this one but maybe if i get lucky, a local gym will be nearby. How to help your web developer with the product Posted: 27 Mar 2018 03:25 PM PDT Hello everyone! One question is bothering me about the website that I would like to be built for me in a near future. I am not a technical person, so I cannot talk to the web developers on the same level and I would not really want to pretend that I know what I am talking about. My question to the web developers is, "When someone approaches you and ask to build a website for them, what information do you expect to receive from that person?" Currently, I am "building" my website in Microsoft Word exactly as I would want it to be. I am writing down everything in details as much as I can (RGB for each color, margins, etc.) to be helpful in the process. As a web developer, do you have something that you would prefer instead of a Word document that basically shows you what happens if you click every clickable "button" on the page? I know I cannot be very useful in choosing the frameworks, languages, APIs (yay, I do not even know what I just said), but I would like to help with what I can. Thank you for your time. Request: "funny" list of all the possible ways to redirect users Posted: 27 Mar 2018 01:15 AM PDT SOLVED, thanks /u/Mestyo! Hi all, I'm looking for a list which had all the possible ways to redirect users with javascript.. I thought I saw it pass here and I thought I had it saved to my bookmarks but I can't seem to find it anymore (google didn't help either - too many stackoverflow hits ^^). It's like an endless list of all the possible ways, for example window.location.href = "/new/page". I think the purpose of the list was to make fun of the crazy amount of possible ways to do something with javascript. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
How would I show the background image outside of my container? Posted: 27 Mar 2018 03:23 PM PDT Hello! I'm trying to make a container that has the text/"main page itself" in the middle of the page and I would like to have a background image that shows on the left and right side of that div. Am I right to be using a div and then creating a class to hold all of the main center part of the page? Thanks! [link] [comments]

HTTP link within HTTPS site gives me "connection is not secure". Posted: 27 Mar 2018 02:21 PM PDT any suggestions and advice is welcome, the application is running within the HTTPS and the href link that I am trying to implement within the application is HTTP(<a href="http://www.example.com/"></a>, is there a way to allow the users still use that link without changing their browser settings? Posted: 27 Mar 2018 02:08 PM PDT Am currently studying to get my MIS degree in college and I am enrolled in a class where we use Microsoft visual studio 2015. I recently saved up for my new MacBook Pro that I was super excited about buying. The issue comes when trying to find a program that can help me do my homework that requires using HTML, CSS, and some j query and bootstrap. All of the files she sends us for homework are .aspx so there is some .asp elements as well. [link] [comments]
[Rant] Why, why do so many people use every preprocessor available!? Posted: 27 Mar 2018 01:45 PM PDT I seriously don't understand this. The last 5 projects I've looked at people put in every preprocessor imaginable! Haml, sass, less, coffee script, you name it they've used it. WHY. [link] [comments]
Learn Angular 2, Angular4, or Angular 5? Posted: 27 Mar 2018 01:20 PM PDT I've used angularjs before but seeing as how everyone is moving to angular i thought i'd pick that up. Which version of angular is the best to learn? [link] [comments]

namecheap can't register boring domain because Verisign says there's a court order prohibiting it Posted: 26 Mar 2018 06:02 PM PDT Hey reddit-- I've registered dozens of domains over the years and never had anything like this happen. I'm working on my PhD and decided to do a little site to collect all of my research, so I went to Namecheap to register a very, very boring-sounding domain. The domain didn't activate, so I assumed I messed up the advanced dns settings some way. Namecheap looked into it, saw a serverhold and received this message back from Verisign:
This is the Whois status:
WTF?? Has anyone ever encountered anything like this? Is this for real? I'm totally baffled... Is there anything I can do? Now the domain shows up as not available when I look at it though other registrars. [link] [comments]
