Distributed systems exams? material by Andrew & Maarten van Steen?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 04:48 AM PST

Hello, I currently have a distributed systems course and the course material we have to read is the 3rd edition distributed systems by andrew and marteen.

This book.. is.. a lot, and as someone who doesn't speak English as their primary language it's even harder to write stuff down and take notes, I'm at 15k words in a word document at the moment.. and each of the chapters in the book are 100 pages or so.

Anyone know if there are some exams examples? This doesn't need to be from the authors or whatever, just in general using the same material? So I at least have an idea of what information is important to know and write down 100%..

    Thanks!

I created an experimental programming language in Python!

I created a toy programming language in Python: https://github.com/raghavnautiyal/dip. Dip (Recursive acronym for Dip isn't Python), is a programming language I built over the span of a few months. Feel free to star the repo and make a pull request. Contributions are welcome!

Comparable courses and books on distributed systems and algorithms to RPI's CSCI 4510/6510?

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 04:07 PM PST

I find a course in distributed systems and algorithms https://www.cs.rpi.edu/~pattes3/dsa/ very interesting and useful with both theoretical and practical contents. But I couldn't find the lecture slides and notes. The papers listed on the course page are written by different people and I am not sure that I could manage to understand them and organize their contents systematically. So I was wondering if anyone by any chance could recommend comparable or better courses with slides/notes available or books? Thanks.

    Why is React so popular?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 01:52 AM PST

Since its conception in 2011, React has taken the front-end development world by storm. It was really a revolution in the space. Throughout these 10 years, a lot has changed about React, causing it to grow exponentially. But what caused it to grow that fast? That's why it's important to study React's history, to see what it did well and what it did wrong.

I used artificial intelligence to write an article and here's what happened.

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 03:23 PM PST

Hey, artificial intelligence seems to be all over today's world. These fake, silicon brains have been replacing our 'feeling brain' slowly but surely. Taking on more and more tasks off of us. But, have you ever wondered about the limits of A.I. What it can and what it can't do? That's the point where I decided that I'm going to run an experiment. The purpose was to find how good modern machine learning really is. So, I decided to try to get an article written exclusively by a computer.

What other ways can we update the usage of the keys on the keyboard to improve the ways we use computers and the ways they function.
