Do you dislike the "learn to code" mass marketing campaigns? Posted: 20 Jan 2021 12:11 PM PST One thing I've noticed is that everyone is more or less encouraged to learn to code these days. It's basically a buzzword/phrase at this point. A lot of people make it out to be easy to learn or switch into the field. Even Joe Biden told coal miners to learn how to code. If you could rephrase this "movement", would you incorporate the hurdles needed to overcome the ideas that coding should be seen as easy? And how do you feel opportunists who are just looking to make money should be looked at? Should there instead be an emphasis placed on making other jobs good, and not just emphasizing how the tech industry can be fun/lucrative/whatever other good adjectives can be used to highlight how good programmers can have it? Complete noob here trying to add one last step to my program. Posted: 20 Jan 2021 11:08 PM PST I have been trying this for 2 days and I thought it would be easier but I am in way over my head. I am desperate for help with this. I have a program that activates three servos. Right now, the code activates servo 'A', then servo 'B', then servo 'C', then repeats this on a loop. I am trying to change the sequence and have servo 'C' run after 'A' and 'B' have looped twice. So the order would be: 'A' 'B' 'A' 'B' 'C' then it would loop. Right now the servos only run in the pattern of 'A' 'B' 'C' 'A' 'B' 'C' on a loop. I have tried everything and I can't seem to figure this out. The code below currently runs A B C A B C A B C... any help would be a life saver. [link] [comments] |

can someone solve this in pytgon ? Posted: 20 Jan 2021 10:42 PM PST im a beginner so i cant really understand how to do it..and i dont know how to loop through a string in cycles. so this is the problem if you have a string "MOBILE" and you have a number n=5 , then starting from M it would iterate 5 times which will remove L and displays it. , then starting from E it would iterate 4 times which will remove B and displays it. , then starting from I it would iterate 3 times which will remove M and displays it. , then starting from O it would iterate 2 times which will remove I and displays it. so we get the string LBMIEO i cant really solve it . please someone help me i dont know how to loop cyclic through a list. What is a good chair for programming? Posted: 20 Jan 2021 09:47 PM PST I need a chair that I can sit in for more than an hour or so without killing my back. Especially the upper part of my back. I'm about 375 pounds and on a budget. $150 or so is the most I can go. I am in the USA so Amazon, Office Depot etc... are all in play. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 20 Jan 2021 02:35 AM PST I am currently a junior in high school exploring programming but feel lost of direction. I am currently focusing on web development, as I was given an opportunity to develop a website that works practically on a small company level. I have worked on it for a while now, as it is currently in use, so I'm always looking for ways to improve it. It uses both front end and back end development, so it touches base on a few different languages like MySQL and PHP. The issue I'm having is I have never taken a proper course on web development. Yes, of course, I took basic computer science courses, such that went over Python or Java but never has it scraped front/back end web development. This means that I taught myself all of what I know, with little use of a formal online course to develop my understanding. That being said, there are a lot of holes in my programming knowledge, especially when dealing with the structure of a site. I have absolutely no clue how websites are managed and coded on professional levels, and extremely doubtful that how I designed the website is orthodox and not "bad" code. Where can I find examples of what practical basic websites look like? How can I learn how to practically structure/code websites, even on a larger scale? My website holds important information, how do I know it is safe from cyber attacks? All in all, I am taking on a project obviously too big for me to manage, but I feel lost in direction as to what I should learn and what I need to know to fix this mess and finally feel like I'm doing something right. What’s going on with these scam links? Posted: 20 Jan 2021 08:00 PM PST Hey guys, so just another typical day in the world of spam and scams, saw a post in one of the subs and I tried to access the links shown in the texts and I get a redirect to "protected-URL" and I see nothing on mobile. It's one of those phishing sms scams. Ed19d.com/1Zyf3vomWz Lj26g.com/ho6JNsuozE Obviously you guys know best how to attempt accessing these sites, using Apple products I'm never personally worried for any malware, and usually they're just phishing pages with data cells and I'll occasionally send fictitious information if I'm feeling amused lol.. but yeah use a sandbox or virtual environment if needed. But normally I cross the sites on BuiltWith but these don't show up, I'm usually curious to know who is hosting these sites, what redirects exist, etc. [link] [comments] |
What's the most advanced programming topic someone can learn, in your personal opinion? Posted: 20 Jan 2021 01:57 PM PST I was just wondering how deep does the rabit hole go. How complicated or complex can programming go and what have you encountered in your day to day that racked your brain. And how did you handle it. [link] [comments] |
Best resource to start learning how to program for a TI 84? Posted: 20 Jan 2021 03:45 PM PST I 'm getting tired of doing so much work on my calculator I just want to plug the stuff in and have it do all the work like I do with the rest of my programs. I'm currently taking some classes that include stats, linear algebra, and calculus 3. There are some problems in those areas that I still have to do by hand because there is no feature to solve automatically. Where can I learn to program a solver for these problems? An example of what I want to solve would be like eigenvalues and eigenvectors. I have plenty of experience programming mostly in C and Python but I have touched assembly in about two classes. I see that people emulate whole games on the TI 84 calculator so it should be able to solve some linear algebra and stats problems. [link] [comments] |

I would want to be able to edit/select the contents being displayed on each TVs (I have around 20 TVs). Please kindly provide any suggestion or even direct me to a solution either via coding or any kind of platform. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from everyone! *My TV is not android TV [link] [comments] |
How much documentation do optimized code sections really need? Posted: 20 Jan 2021 02:30 PM PST I optimize things when perf tests find code spends time in a function. This is a simple example from the tight inner loop of a When I optimize I include #ifdefs around comparable code so there is no question what the code should do, and removing the optimized code gives usable unoptimized code.
