    [META] Regulate meme content... please?

    Posted: 09 Jul 2018 04:34 AM PDT

Browsing r/programmerhumor used to be fun. We would bash about the most popular js framework, make another QA enter a bar joke, or retweet an @iamadeveloper quote. Repost does happen, but most of us are creative enough to make it funny and not repeative.

But ever since the BadUIOutbreak, more non-developers had subscribed to this subreddit. While more people paying attention to programming is definitely a good thing, the massive influx of low quality content coming to this sub might not be one. As of today, nearly every new post is another HTML suck, js suck haha, don't(), or even completely non-developers related stuffs. And they got reposted. Every 3 hours. Personally I enjoyed the Bad UI flood more than now. Hey, at least making a new BadUI take effort and creativity. If we regulated the BadUI contents, we might just regulate the meme as well.

I am not saying that meme is evil or should be banished from existence, but sometimes it's just... too much. And it doesn't look like it will end any time soon. What do you guys think?
